Third Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

The order of the evening was bacon, mushroom, and class-assignment eggbaby omelets.

Reno was making them in the third-floor common room. He figured, the farther down the floors he went, the better a chance he had of letting the smell waft up to floors higher up to make eggbaby parents regret not eating their assignments, too.

There was really only one eggbaby going into the omelet, of course, because letting everyone else run around like idiots taking care of chicken eggs was too damn amusing to interrupt, but he had brought along another couple dozen actual eggs, and there was plenty of late-night omelet to go around.

All things considered, children happened to taste pretty good.

Jenny peered into the third floor common room and asked Reno, "You can cook?"

"Apparently." Into the omelet went the bacon. "I can do damn near anything if it can be considered an act of rebellion," Reno decided.

"Well," said Jenny, "I guess you can't make a rebellion without cracking a few eggs, then."

"You into rebellion? There's plenty of retarded-fake-baby omelet to go around," Reno offered.

"Yes, but in this case it's more that I'm into free food. Dare I ask?"

"Most idiotic class assignment ever. Gotta pretend an egg is a baby for a week and coddle the stupid thing. I got better uses for an egg."

"That sounds dreadful," Jenny declared. "And boring. Feed me your offspring?"

"Best use for a kid I ever seen," Reno said, grabbing a plate and serving a small slab of bacon-and-mushroom scrambled kid to Jenny. "Enjoy, yo."

Jenny grabbed a fork and took a bite of Reno's kid with bacon and mushrooms. "Not half bad, co-host type person."

"Apparently I can cook. Might have to make some more for the broadcast tomorrow night. I bet kid goes good with rum."

When Ron saw Jenny enter the CR he dived behind the couch.

Maybe she wouldn't notice and he could make a quick exit.

Jenny's experience combat eye noticed the diving for cover and tracked the movement. "Oh," she said drily, "It's you."

Ron's head poked out from behind the couch. "Er. Hi."

"Don't hit on me again and we'll call it even," Jenny told him. She was in a generous mood.

"So... later on I won't get the trash kicked out of me when my guard is down?"

Jenny looked at him as if she was beginning to suspect he was insane. Which she was. "Why the bloody hell would I do that?"

"Well you know. Revenge. Dish. Served cold," Ron said with a wary shrug. "Not that you would do that but I don't want to end up in a dumpster and be missing my trousers or something like that."

Rikku waved. And then blushed. And then tried to be very, very interested in her omelette.

Jenny waved back and found herself oddly disappointed by the blushing. There went another opportunity to get herself laid. Le sigh.

"So, uh, how are you?" Rikku asked. Wow, she failed at casual.

Jenny shrugged. "Bored and hungry, yourself?"

"Pretty much the same," Rikku said. "Uh. Sorry I pounced you? I don't normally do that? Wow, the whole dancing thing was kinda trippy, though."

"Oh, you don't?" Jenny sounded quite disappointed. "I mean, yes, the dancing was quite something."

Well, that didn't help the blushing any. "Sorry?" She facepalmed. "I, uh, do you? 'Cause. I mean. You kiss awesome, I just, uh."

"Yes," said Jenny. "Not since December of 1999, but as a rule of thumb. Thank you, I've had a lot of practice."
