The Oscars pre-game was on, Ferris had food spread out on the table and even though he didn't know who half of these people were, he was commenting on the fashion. "Really, why would anyone wear a dress that intentionally makes their ass look big?"

"Most important meal of the day," Reno agreed. "Wake up, have yourself somethin' to eat right off the bat. Maybe have it a few more times before brunch hits, just to be sure."

This was possibly one of the most awesome conversations he had been a part of since he arrived on Fandom Island.

"And if you are not well-fortified from that, or if it proves lacking, often you can call room service and refresh your supplies," Romeo said. Happily, because Reno was awesome.

"Convenient, ain't it? Just dial 'em up and tell 'em to send someone by with one of everything on the menu. That'll keep you well fortified, I'm thinkin'."

Reno laughed. Romeo was the closest thing he had, here on the island, to just cracking and giving Rude a call. Except one of the two of them was more expressive. He couldn't really put a finger on which one that was.

"Good to go with a well-balanced meal, morning, noon, and night." Pause. "Long, long into the night, yo."

Romeo, meanwhile, was desperately wishing he could introduce Reno to Mercutio. As that was impossible, he would have to do his friend's memory proud.

"It must be long, if it is to last throughout the night."

"Room service has a lot of flavors, yo." Reno was wearing that grin. That grin that said he totally knew what he was talking about, here. "Gotta plan on a late night, if you're gonna be up taste-testin' 'em all."

Idly, he wondered if there was such a thing as a sampler pack.

"Such a late night, it bleeds into the next day," Romeo agreed, not really knowing what he was talking about but going with it. "And with such a large court of samples, there would be no need to stop at midnight."

"Midnight snack," Reno confirmed. "To keep you goin'. Or whatever." He had to laugh a bit, now. "And when you wake up in the mornin', you can help yourself to some leftover fruit salad."

"Of course, you cannot let the fruit salad know it is a leftover," Romeo said. "It can be quite sensitive, for food, and one must be gentle with it."

"Eh. You prep the melons just right, and nobody will ever know the difference," Reno said, waving a hand dismissively.

"So it is essential they are happy melons," Romeo suggested.

"Absolutely," Reno agreed. "Perky, even."

"And well-rounded, but not overlarge and flavorless," Romeo said.

A man was allowed personal taste, after all.

"Firm," Reno replied. "Juicy, yeah. Gotta be the sort you wanna sink your teeth into, yo."

Personal taste was very important in matters concerning fruit salad.

"The word, I believe, is succulent," Romeo supplied. "And as for the rest of the salad, of course the peaches must be only the sweetest."

"Sounds to me like you know the recipe pretty well," Reno observed.

"I might have made it a time or two," Romeo acknowledged. "Though it sounds like you are an expert."

"I like to consider myself a bit of a gourmet," Reno agreed with a nod. "The recipe itself is pretty easy. It's appreciatin' it to its full extent that gets tricky, yo. There's an art to it."

"The art is in being able to enjoy oneself fully, but not so fast that you..." And then Romeo's voice trailed off, because Dojima had walked in and she got most of his attention. "Um. The company is important as well, of course."

Reno followed Romeo's gaze to Dojima and flashed a grin. "Of course it is. You got your eye on that one, huh?"

Romeo could only nod at first, a little pathetically. "She was my date for the dance, and we have seen each other since," he said. "Am I so obvious?"

"Kinda like a puppy," Reno observed, grinning around his now stuck-out tongue. "But hey, if it works for you two, then who'm I to judge. Ain't like I don't got weird girl-related things goin' on, too."

"I always feel happy and hopeful when with her, so that is a good sign," Romeo said. Hopefully, if still with a bit of the puppy in his manner. "Riku mentioned you were seeing each other, and figuring it out as you went."

"Lot of figuring to be done, really. I got no idea what I'm doin' with this whole ... relationship. Thing." Reno gave a shrug of his shoulders and a shake of his head. "I figure it'll be worth it, if I manage to not screw it up. Looks like you got a better idea of what you're doin'. Doji's probably in for less of a headache with you than Rikku's in for with me, yo."

Romeo snorted. "I would tell you not to wager on that, but that would mean telling you some things I ought to tell her first," he said. "I am good at courtship, at least when the lady reciprocates. I've just no idea what comes next."

"The one thing I can tell you about what comes next, man, is that there ain't a man alive who has a bit of a clue about what comes next." Reno laughed a bit. "We're totally at their mercy now. Best we can hope for is that they're not gonna chew us up an' spit us out, yo."
