The Lawns, Saturday after breakfast

Now that Sky, alias Uberman, had been filled with a nice breakfast of pancakes, there were important matters to take care of.

Like fighting off invisible villains.

"Ha! Gotcha with my 'splodey baseball!" he crowed, tossing a tiny plastic ball at what he imagined was the wicked Space Turkey. "And I getcha 'gain if you come back! Uberman never gives up, an' he always beats the bad guys!" He spread his arms and ran in circles, pretending to fly, his red towel "cape" fluttering behind him.

"Here comes Uberman, to save the day..."

[Open for both the wee and the normal-sized to play! ... And no, I have no idea where I pulled Space Turkey from. My nether regions, I expect.]

Annette held it and looked down at it, turning it over and over in her hands. "This is a baseball!" She laughed and took off running, holding the ball. "Catch me!"

"Hey! 's mine!" Sky cried, giving chase after a moment of shock. "Gimme my ball!"

Annette just giggled cause even as a little four year old girl, she could be wicked. "Catch me if you can!"

Sky ran after her as fast as he could.

"Oh, I'm gonna catch you! Gimme my ball back!!"

She ducked behind a tree, breathing hard and trying to hide. Probably he saw her.

Sky did, and he stopped in front of her, also panting. He was about to demand the ball back again, nastily, when he remembered something his father told him once about bugs and vinegar... he couldn't remember, but it was about being nice, and how it worked a lot better than being mean.

"May I have my ball back?" he asked sweetly.

Annette happily handed it over. "It's a nice ball. I wanna watch it esplode."

"Thanks," said Sky, taking it. "'kay. You gotta pretend really, really hard or it won't work." He threw it hard, then made exploding-ish noises with his mouth.

Annette blinked and ducked and covered her ears with her hands, squeezing her eyes shut tight. "WOW!"

Sky grinned, running over and picking it up again.

"I blew up the Space Turkey with it before. But it won't hurt us, 'cause we're good guys!"

Blinking her eyes open, she stared at the ball, then looked at Sky. "A Space Turkey? Did it gobble?"

"Uh-huh. And it went like this- grrrooowwwwrrrr! But he's gone now!"

"... and you saved people?" Annette was very impressed.
