Lana had pulled out paper and crayons and markers and scissors and glue. She'd even found some stickers and glitter. Now she was busily coloring away at the coffee table. There were cartoons on the TV and she was humming happily, tongue sticking out as she concentrated on what she was doing.

Well that seemed simple enough. But...he scratched his head. "But good girl sounds like something you say to a girl puppy."

"My Aunt Nell tells me I'm a good girl all the time," she said, looking a little upset. "And I'm not a puppy!"

"I didn't mean it like that." Billy said. No one had ever told Billy he was a good boy, so he didn't know from that kind of praise.

"It's okay," Lana said quietly.

Billy sat down, and tucked his chin in his hands thoughtfully. "Are grown ups girls though? Aren't you supposed to call them womyn or ladies?"

Lana shrugged. "Ladies is always good for little girls and for growed up girls."

"Good lady." Billy tried it out. "Or, or, how abouts, nice lady."

Lana nodded. "Yep. That's fine."

"Nice lady then." Yeah, Billy liked the sound of that one. "Thanks."
