3rd Floor Common Room: Saturday afternoon [3-29-08]

Lana had pulled out paper and crayons and markers and scissors and glue. She'd even found some stickers and glitter. Now she was busily coloring away at the coffee table. There were cartoons on the TV and she was humming happily, tongue sticking out as she concentrated on what she was doing.

Bridge frowns at Jen, not entirely certain that was proper police behaviour. He was one of the *good* guys after all!

"Cookies are contra-banned," Jen informs him importantly. "So I have to confis -- conf -- I have to take 'em away from you."

In a whisper she adds, "But then I'll share 'em."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Bridge's frown doesn't go away. These were cookies from Xander and he didn't want them taken away.

"Taking away other people's stuff isn't nice," he says quietly. "How 'bouts I just share with you instead?"

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Jen puts her hands on her hips and taps her foot five times carefully while she thinks about this.

"If I took your cookies away, I'd have to 'rrest myself for stealing, huh?" she asks, frowning mightily. "That would be hard. And sharing is good b'havior so okay!"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Zactly!" Bridge nods, wide-eyed. "Or I could 'rest you cause I'm a cadet but you're my friend and I like just sharing better," he informs her, holding out the bag of cookies so she can pick some.

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Jen caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarefully tucks her bubble blaster into the waistband of her white pajamas that aren't as shiny as she wishes they are, but someday when she's a real Time Force officer they'll be really shiny!

(It takes a few tries before she gets the bubble gun to stay in place, and not fall down her pants leg.)

"I like cookies," she says happily, and chews on her lower lip in thought as she peers carefully into the bag. Picking just the right cookies is serious business, but she finally comes up with five.

No, seven.

No, nine. 'cause you can never have too many cookies.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Cookies is good for you," Bridge says. "Cause they got eggs and flour and those are healthy things. And you gotsa drink milk with them and milk's good for you too."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Milk's important and it's healthy," Jen agrees. "It balances out the unhealthy cookie-stuff. Do we have milk?"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Should be some in the fridgergator," Bridge says. "And if there's none left I can get some from my Synthe- Synthe- 'chine. It makes stuffs."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Jen wanders over to the fridge and uses both hands and a pair of very stubbornly planted feet to tug it open, where she finds a conveniently full and un-expired gallon jug of milk on a shelf juuuuuuuuuuust out of reach.

"Stupid fridge! No fair playing keepaway!"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe it's a fridgergator monster," Bridge says, tugging a chair over to where Jen's standing. "But we're smarter than monsters!"

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Jen frowns and pokes at the toy Chronomorpher on her wrist, and when she hits the button it makes tinny noises just like a Bandai toy ahaha. "But we can't fight it if it gets all big!"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Xander and Anders and Meg can fights it," Bridge decides. "*They're* big." Five-year-old logic at work.

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
"But but but!" Jen frowns and makes grabby-hands at the milk again, never mind that Bridge has the chair. "That's s'posed to be our job. They're c'vilians, it's dangerous!"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Xander's not c'vilian, not *really*," Bridge says. "He fights *demons*!"

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Jen sticks her tongue out at him and crosses her arms over her chest. "Ev'ybody knows there's no such thing as demons! 'cept in Mar'ner Bay in 2000 and that was a thouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusand years ago."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"There is so," Bridge says quietly. "Xander's from a different 'mention where they got lots of demons. And no aliens!"

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"A different 'mention?" asks Jen. "Where cookies aren't s'posed to be bad?"

Please note the priorities here. It's sad how they don't really change in a decade or two.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
"They like cookies there!" Bridge nods emphatically. "Lots and lots."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Jen's eyes light up, and she starts to scramble up onto the chair to go after the milk. "Can we move there?"

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Bridge shakes his head. "Xander got stucked there once," he says sadly. "I couldn't even talk to him onna phone or the puter or *anything* and I don't want anyone to be stucked there even if there is cookies."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Getting stucked is bad," Jen says with a serious frown. She finally makes it up onto the top of the chair and teeters a little before she reaches for the milk. "But I'd rather get stucked in a 'mention where there's cookies than one where there isn't."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Our 'mention has cookies," Bridge points out. "Just not your time. So it's a good thing you're in now instead of then!"

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh huh, it is," agrees Jen. She carefully sets the milk down at her feet and clambers back down off the chair, her lips pursed in thought.

"You," she announces finally, an index finger held up in the air, "will be really, really, really old by then."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Almost a thousand," Bridge says, wide-eyed. "I don't have enough fingers for that!"
