Blissfully unaware there was anything at all odd about today, Romeo padded into the common room and found some cold cereal to eat while he watched a morning talk show.

They were making over erotic dancers, and Romeo decided the "on stage" looks were much better than the "daytime" looks. It was purely an aesthetic decision, of course -- at least the on stage looks didn't involve floral cardigans.

Romeo blushed scarlet at being discovered. "I think I'm good," he muttered. "You'll tell me if I start sprouting breasts?"

"Hell, I'll feel you up just so you can have the experience," Mel teased.

"I would offer to return the favor," Romeo replied, "but I still owe you a sonnet for your girl form, and I'd hate to find I needed to write one to you as a male as well."

He paused. "Besides, I don't feel like fighting Sokka again, and I fear he'd force the issue if I touched you."

"Let's hold off on the sonnet to my male bits," Mel snarked. "I'm hoping they go away by tomorrow and I'll be back to normal. And if you were feeling me up I think Sokka would be the least of your worries."

"He is rather behind you and Yurika on the list of concerns," Romeo nodded.

Curious, he asked, "How different does it feel?"

"I don't know how you guys walk around with these things," Mel said shifting slightly. "And I keep forgetting my lack of breasts. Other than the standing up thing, I haven't done a lot of experimentation."

"I don't know how you walk around without them," Romeo said. "It must be confusing, the whole change."

"Last week I was seven years old and today I'm a guy," Mel replied. "And last month I was in a completely different century and living in a brothel. As far as I'm concerned this is just another one of those rutting days and I'm going to make the best of the experience. Got any suggestions on what I should do first?"

"Other than the obvious?" Romeo asked, with a quick hand gesture. "And you ended up in a brothel too? How was yours?"

he closed his eyes. "I know it's been said, but this place is strange."

"Actually I didn't get too involved there. Willow was running the books and I was the bouncer," Mel said in amusement. "And as for my current condition, maybe we should start off with the more subtle experiences first."

"I just slept in one, when I ran out of money for a hotel," Romeo overshared. "The girls were nice enough, though."

He wouldn't have been much for the subtle if he'd woken up as a girl, but that didn't seem worth sharing with Mel. "Subtle experiences," he repeated, drawing a blank. The Slayer thing meant Mel had had a lot of the ones he would have thought of for another girl, like fighting or walking down a dark street unafraid. "Go to the beach," he finally suggested, a bit weakly. "The weather's not the best for it, but it may be your one chance to go topless and not draw a crowd."

"I'll give it a shot," Mel said with a shrug. "I'm sure I'll find something to do. What about you? If you were a girl for the day what would be the first thing you'd do?"

"After the panic? The obvious," Romeo admitted, trying to look very innocent. Well, Mel had asked. "And then, find my girlfriend, and see how she felt about the transformation."

"The obvious?" Mel asked sweetly and with the best innocent expression he could muster. "What's that?"

"Make friends with little Mel?" Romeo suggested, trying hard not to snicker. "Arm-wrestle the one-eyed cyclops? Audition your hand puppet?"

"Or are you too delicate a flower to entertain those possibilities?"

"What? You mean beat off?" Mel said with a snarky grin.

"That would be the general concept, yes," Romeo said dryly.

"Well why didn't you just say so?" Mel said with a laugh.

Romeo gave her a look. "You've known me since January," he pointed out. "How often do I say something the commonplace way?"

"Well the last time I think you were really drunk," Mel said looking thoughtful. "Or had your butt in a pile of pudding."

Romeo gave him-her a kind of "there you go" look and turned back to the TV.

A moment later, he said, "Is there anything that would make you never mention pudding again?"

"I'll drop it," Mel said leaning back on the sofa and kicking his feet up on the coffee table. "I'm sure I'll do something horribly embarrassing soon enough and you'll have the good grace to let it go."
