Friday Night, Gym -- Cheerleader Fashion Show

Friday evening, the gym had turned into quite a different place. There was a stage and runway constructed and lights were at every conceivable position to show off whomever might be up there at any given time.

There was a table set up for taking tickets and another table set up for the purchasing of refreshments.

On the stage, there was a podium draped in blue cloth and when the light hit it, it sparkled ever so slightly.

Instead of the bleachers being pulled out, there were rows upon rows of folding chairs set up through the gym, and they were garnished with bows and streamers in the colors of Fandom High.

Welcome to the FH Gremlins Cheerleaders Fashion Show. The festivities are about to begin.

[[OOC: Please be patient and wait for the massive amounts of OCD is as I am at work while putting this up. :) Going up early for Great SP and Time Zone justice!]]

"Oh."

Er.

"Okay."

She suddenly waved her hand in a sort of flaily fashion, half in nonchalance and half in, just a ... flaily fashion.

"A.J.? I just got to tell you something and I just have to tell you now or I'm going to go crazy and no, I realize this isn't the time but you know me by now and I really think you know me and well... I just can't think about dating someone else when we are... when we have... and probably again, right? I mean, I feel... are you like... like... A.J., I'm just kind of confused in a way that I just don't get." Annette shifted foot to foot as she spoke, twisting up the side of her skirt in her hand in a nervous gesture as she did so.

A.J. blinked at Annette. Quite a few times, and he struggled to follow that. He tried very hard, though, because it was clear that there was something, but...yeah.

"I...I'm sorry, what?"

I just can't think about dating someone else when we are...

Was she....someone else...and didn't tell him? And then they...?

A.J. gulped, color draining from his face.

She sighed. "Are we, you and I, are we dating? As in no one else?"

"Uhhhh..."

A.J. realized he had no idea.

"Well, it's not like I've got anyone else."

A.J. also had no idea what was the right thing to say in a situation like this. Although it did stand to be considered that he also thought this was about Annette having someone else.

"I don't have anyone else either," she told him. "I haven't, not since Dick."

And somehow him saying that hurt. That he accepted her just because he didn't have anyone else?

"If you don't know, then how am I supposed to know? I've kind of... I mean..." she looked down. "You know how I feel about you." And she was so terribly afraid of being used.

"Oh." A.J., turning even redder, ducked his head, hand reaching behind his head to rub his neck. Well, that put a different spin on it than what he was thinking, and also shed some light on the fact that his reaction might not have been the best if this were the case.

And, thankfully, that shift in perspective was enough to get him to stop himself before he said anything about the fact that, yeah, he knew, but that didn't mean he always necessarily believed it to be true. It was hard for him to, what with her doing things like kissing him or talking about how much she wanted him when she still had a boyfriend and knew nothing could happen.

"Well, how am I supposed to know if you don't know?" he countered. "I don't know anything."

"I know what I want," she said. "I just get confused when I try to pair it with what you want, because that I don't know."

She reached out for his other hand, wanting to bring it to her lips so she could kiss his fingers.

"I want you. Plain and simple. And not just part of you, all of you. I know you might not trust me in that, but it's true. I thought it might be more than obvious by now and if not then I've failed greatly in letting you know how much you mean to me."

"Oh, Annette..." A.J., frowning, realizing that, right now, he had no idea what to say to that, moved to put his arms softly around her and draw Annette in close to him, and lightly kiss her forehead. He didn't know what to say, except for what was just the basic, bare, certain truth, and so that's what came one. "I really don't know if right now's the time to talk about this..."

"It's not, it's totally not," she murmured against his chest, her arms around him. "But maybe later? Tomorrow... Sunday... sometime soon..." she didn't say anything else, just hugged him and managed a brief, fleeting smile up at him before she pulled back.

"I better get back to the squad. Thank you for coming to the show - I was glad to see you here." With another smile, a squeeze of his hand, she turned and flounced off, still totally enjoying the little skirt.

A.J. smiled a little sadly after her, wishing she hadn't moved away that quickly, not when she sounded mostly unconvinced. "I'll stop by tomorrow, okay?" he called out after her, letting her go, but wanting to at least establish that.
