4th Floor Common Room [Sunday, Morning]

Mac had never been so glad to have access to caffeine. Sunday mornings were supposed to be for lie-ins.

Kids, as it turned out, woke up antisocially early and usually only to demand food. Well, that was what the shape of the last twenty-four hours told her, anyway.

That, and that she should invest in electronic tagging. Mainly for Miles. Maybe Veronica could set her up with child lo-jack...

Anyway, once she'd finally figured out that if you gave them lots of cereal and sit them in front of cartoons they didn't break things quite so much, she did just that, and settled down with her coffee to make the most of the break. However short-lived that might be.

Caz was awake and, try as he might, he hadn't been successful in waking his father up.

So he decided to go exploring and see if he could find food.

He wandered into the fourth floor common room and was surprised to see a familiar face.

"Hey, Aunt Mac! What's for breakfast?"

"Dad wouldn't wake up," Caz said. "I think he's still pissed that I beat him at our pancake eating contest yesterday. Don't know where Mom is, but Dad says he wants to call her."

He grabbed the box of cereal and started pouring himself a very full bowl.

"Oh, right, you don't know me yet," Caz said. "I'm Cassidy Logan Casablancas but everyone calls me Caz," he said. "Is Aunt Cally here somewhere?"

"You guys met here though, right?" Caz said. "Like Mom and Dad and Uncle Angel and Uncle Logan and Aunt Phoebe, Uncle Cole and Uncle Sam?"

Caz smirked. "Yup. I'm eight. My big sister, Lilly, is almost eighteen."

"Is once a week a lot?" Caz asked.

"Not really, she just has more creative threats sometimes," Caz confided.

"I can't take you out for the day without putting some kind of breakfast in you first." Billy said, his daughter trailing behind him. She was dressed once again in a yellow raincoat and red galoshes over the same clothes she'd worn the day before. She didn't mind.

"I've seen the town before." she reminded him.

"You've seen it, ten, maybe twenty years down the line. I'm sure it's much different. This will give you a kind of...uh, historical perspective."

"Oh! Okay." she agreed happily. Billy made a mental note for the future. She was interested in history. Or at least pretended.

"I'm Caz, who're you?" he asked.

"Not that much different," Caz piped up around a mouthful of cereal.

"Miles," he replied. He pointed at Mac, who had taken the moment to go back to her coffee. With everything of the last day or so, she needed it. "That's my mom."

[identity profile] pleasedontbreed.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aunt Mac doesn't have kids," Caz argued.

[identity profile] weetinyq.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's not your aunt," Miles told him. "She's my mom. I would know!"

Caz was savvy enough to realize that this kid was clearly from another dimension. But that didn't mean he wouldn't argue.

"She is so my aunt," he insisted.

"Really? That's kind of comforting in a way."

"Huh?" Faith looked confused for a moment. "Oh! No I just like the coat and the boots."

[identity profile] weetinyq.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not where I'm from," he said firmly. "Else I would know you. I know all my cousins."
