Little Dipper Campfire [evening]

Kaylee...was not the best cook. But! Given what she'd been able to scrounge up, sweet-wise, she was doing just fine, thank you. She'd managed to locate a fair amount of candy and fresh fruit, and while her attempts to roast things over the fire weren't going very well (gummi bears, it turned out, were kinda melty), she was determined to at least try everything.

Lois was beginning to realize that if she walked around a little there would be somebody around with food. Said somebody was usually more than willing to share. Lois would never have to cook again. This was great news not only for her, but for the entire world as a whole.

"Hey stranger," Lois said, sitting down on a log near the campfire.

"Hiya!" Kaylee said cheerfully, holding out a bag of marshmallows. "Want a white...sweet thingie?"

"Sure! I love those thingies," Lois said. She grabbed herself a handful of marshmallows and popped one into her mouth. "I know you from somewhere. You're in that auto mechanics class with me, aren't you?"

"Are you in part of the cabin I haven't seen yet?" Ned asked by way of greeting.

"Ah, no. I'm in the Lupus cabin," Lois admitted. "I just spotted food and made my way over."

Romeo grinned at Lois as he approached the fire. Not that he knew her, but smiling was always good.

"I think I've not met you yet." His tone suggested this was a pleasure much anticipated.

"I don't think we have," Lois said, smiling. This guy was cute. "I'm Lois Lane, new kid."

"What're you making?" Ned asked, stepping outside of the cabin with Digby on his heels. "That's not gremlin, is it?"

"Nooo, it's...melty," she told him, frowning at the stick over the fire, which had originally had some licorice stuck to the end of it.

"Very melty," he observed as he took a seat. "Is it supposed to be melty?"

Romeo waved to Ned and motioned Digby over for a pat. "How go your workshops thus far?"

"They're all tomorrow," Ned said, smiling as Digby trotted over and made himself comfortable at Romeo's feet. "Nothing for me yet. I've just been adjusting to the cabin and the idea of summer camp."

"Surviving so far?" Katara asked with a big smile for Ned and Digby.

"So far," Ned said, returning the smile. Digby hopped up from the ground and trotted over to see Katara. "I'm done with workshops and I'm still here. That's good, right?"

Romeo came back from work and, after a quick shower, wandered out to the campfire and took a gummi worm. "Will these roast, do you think?"

"The bears didn't," she told him, eyeing the worm appraisingly. "You can try, though!"

"Hello!" Katara called with a wave, far too happy to not see Worf at the campfire. "Ooh, are you making s'mores?"

"What's a s'more?" Kaylee asked, eyes widening. "They sound good."

Worf spotted Katara as he approached the campfire.

And went to the other side of the campfire ring.

"Hello," Worf said to everyone at the campfire.

Except Katara who he was not looking at. "May I join you all as a fellow Little Dipper cabinmate."

"Hiya!" Kaylee said cheerily, without looking up just yet. "We're eatin' marshmallows."

Gwen sat down by the fire. "Evening."

Katara waved to the new girl. "Hi! You're in this cabin too, right? I've seen you around, I think."

"Hiya!" Kaylee said delightedly. "Marshmallow?"

She was kinda in love with that word.

Worf looked over at Gwen and glared at her for a moment before returning his attention to his marshmallow.
