As it turned out, Jen didn't handle hangovers very well, which had something to do with the way she'd managed to completely miss out on any and all pony-related activities yesterday.

She could have been a pony for all she knew, but she'd been asleep through all of it thanks to the wonders of Aleve; apparently 21st-century painkillers had quite the effect on a 31st-century physiology unused to them. So yay for that, she supposed.

She'd managed to get a fire going -- a small and kind of ragged one, definitely not the kind of fire-building that would win a merit badge, but it was erratically crackling away as Jen went through some martial arts forms nearby. Sure, there was a gym on the campgrounds, but being around all these trees made her kind of nostalgic for the days when the best she'd had was that rope-wrapped tree in that Silver Hills park.

Besides, this was where she'd laid out the s'more makings. Duh.

"So the pony stuff that happened yesterday is old hat to you," Dick said. "Is there really a point where it stops being weird?"

"Oh, yeah," Chad grunted. "I can't even remember when it wasn't anymore."

"I'm just glad I dodged the horse bullet this time," Dick said. "Hopefully I can keep the trend up."

"Dude," Chad's head swayed back and forth. "Just setting yourself up with talk like that, you know."

"I enjoy tempting fate," Dick said. "It keeps life interesting."

"Next big wave of weirdness hits?" Chad said. "I'm going to find you and see if you say the same thing."

Chad's head shook. "Nah, chimp's too simple. Maybe a chimp with wings."
