It was a quiet night. Just after midnight, a steady rain had started falling, drenching the island quickly and showing no sign of slowing. A few hours later, at 2am, the peace of the night was broken when the fire alarm started blaring. It would shrilly blare, stop and then repeat the same shrill blare two seconds later. And it was not going to stop until the all clear was given.

Thus, all the students had to carry their tired selves from their snuggly significant others or their snuggly beds to go wait IN THE RAIN on the dorm lawn. The fire department was making sure all the students were a safe distance away from the school so there were no awnings to hide under. All the students would be stuck out in the steady rain.

The fire department headed into the building but this could take awhile. Enjoy your fire drill, kids!

[IT'S FIRE DRILL TIEMS! Just remember it's raining but it's warm. Have fun! See here for fire drill details! And take a look here for our previous fire drill!]

Once the sun went down, a rather spectacularly large bonfire was lit for the party. No, Merlin was not aware it was now celebrated on the first of May. Calenders change, after all.

There was even a crudely constructed maypole there in case anyone felt the need to dance around it. They did so at their own peril, of course. The mockery that may ensue would probably be great.

At 2 am exactly, a loud buzzing sound rang through the dorms. An not just any buzzing. A loud, obnoxious "BZZZT!" followed by a two-second pause, followed by another "BZZZT!", followed by another two-second pause, followed by a... You get the idea. And the really bad part was the way it tended to feel like it was inside your head when it "BZZZT"ed as you were passing by in the halls.

So due to the "BZZZT"ing and fire safety regulations, the students had to drag their tired, cranky selves out of bed (or whatever), make their way down the halls and stairwells, and file out onto the dorm lawn in the chilly, damp weather, and did we mention it was 2 am?

The Fandom fire department was on hand, but they'd probably make everyone wait for a while just because they were cranky, too.

[And here is your fire drill post! See here for details.

How did it take us three years to do this, game? How?]

Angela had been up late watching movies last night, so she was up late today. Most teenagers would agree that mornings were not meant for being awake for anyway. Especially not when it was a Sunday.

Eventually she made it to the common room. And now? She was dancing to whatever was playing on MTV and cooking breakfast.

Uh. Sort of. if you could call toasting ready-made waffles 'cooking'. Angela did.

[[Ooooopen, obviously.]]

Claire decided that she was obviously delusional, homesick or both. Those were the only possible explanations for taking up the common room kitchen in an attempt to make a pot roast from her mother's recipe. Ruth's recipe wasn't entirely clear, and there were a couple of ingredients that either weren't available on this coast or were no longer made at all. The whole thing was giving her a migraine and she was remembering why she didn't cook.

Vegetables sliced and oven preheated, Claire stood on the counter, rooting through a cabinet for Lipton soup mix. She tried not to curse too loudly.

Momentarily forgotten, the TV blared a Z-Cases rerun.

[OOC: Open like a CR, yep.]

Ned hadn't been in the common room in awhile what with the cabins and the lack of oven out there. Rectifying the lack of baking was easy enough as sliding on his apron (still not pink) and heading down the hall to the nearest common room.

Now, he was in the midst of baking a pie or two.

It was almost relaxing, being able to do this again. And it didn't involve stick figures so he wouldn't end up making one side bigger than the other.

The tv was on for some background noise but Ned was baking, not watching.

[Open, of course! He'll share, of course!]

After an enjoyable morning filled with apples and s'mores, Hannibal was sprawled on one of the couches in the common room. He wasn't licking himself (he knew what he tasted like and it looked weird to do it too much).

No, he was watching something on television and wondering if anyone else was weirdly affected by this whole thing.

Or maybe enjoyably affected. He hoped so, at least.

[Oh so open! Yes, yes.]

Kaylee was bored. And hungry.

Generally, these two things were not a particularly good combination.

That said, she'd managed to actually follow a recipe and produce a decent (if funnily-shaped) batch of chocolate raspberry cookies.

Now, the state of the kitchen, and...her clothes, and really, her overall appearance -- that was something else. It didn't matter to her, anyway, if the flour had gotten all over so long as the right amount had ended up in the cookies. And so what if there was chocolate on her cheeks and baking powder in her hair, too.

Plus she'd eaten about half the raspberries so they might actually have been a little shy of what they should have been, but whatever, they seemed okay to her.

[ooooopen. save me from the boredom of cleaning my room apparently rl people heard my ooc plea, and I am being dragged out to the bar! shall pick things up later! (as in tomorrow, since omg drunk.)]

Chuck was getting real tired of this whole cabin thing and was counting down the days until they moved back to the dorms. He wasn't the outdoorsy type but even sitting out here with the dirt and the bugs and the nature was better than sitting in that cabin with all those people in close quarters.

He was sitting on a blanket-covered log, roasting marshmallows in one hand and catching up on Gossip Girl with his phone in the other.

Harry had gone out and into the town to escape from Bob and the hamsters with berets. He didn't want to hear Bob giving advice on choreography and he certainly didn't want to know why Bob knew so much about it.

He'd come back to the campire, which he'd lit with a bit of magic and which had only flared up a little more than he'd expected. And he'd brought food. Including hot dogs, which some cabins had neglected to provide on other nights.

As it turned out, Jen didn't handle hangovers very well, which had something to do with the way she'd managed to completely miss out on any and all pony-related activities yesterday.

She could have been a pony for all she knew, but she'd been asleep through all of it thanks to the wonders of Aleve; apparently 21st-century painkillers had quite the effect on a 31st-century physiology unused to them. So yay for that, she supposed.

She'd managed to get a fire going -- a small and kind of ragged one, definitely not the kind of fire-building that would win a merit badge, but it was erratically crackling away as Jen went through some martial arts forms nearby. Sure, there was a gym on the campgrounds, but being around all these trees made her kind of nostalgic for the days when the best she'd had was that rope-wrapped tree in that Silver Hills park.

Besides, this was where she'd laid out the s'more makings. Duh.
