The Roof; Sunday Evening.
Cal had never seen anything like this sky before in his life; he'd be damned if he didn't appreciate it. From the height of the dormitory's rooftop, the view was even better, and it also added a bit of consolation in the theory that, perhaps, if anything did erupt, he was at a bit of a high ground, even if he was pretty sure lava could manage to do quite a bit of damage to the base of a building. Maybe they were far away enough that it wouldn't matter, anyway.
But, God, it was gorgeous. It certainly did wonders to pull Cal out of the reverie that had been holding him back all day about his father. About how the last time he'd seen Milton was when they broke the news about Cal's...condition, how he'd never said a word to him after that, because he'd run away and, by the time he got back, his father had died. He'd called Tessie, but the ensuing conversation was short, awkward, and left him overly thoughtful. Sitting on the roof now with a cigarette between his lips as he took in the electricity in the air, though, he started to feel a little better.

He told himself that it couldn't possibly have anything to do with him personally, but that a girl would want to seem low-key and cool in the general vacinity of him, even, was enough to bring the grin up a notch. And he knew he shouldn't even bother entertaining those kinds of thoughts anyway, but he couldn't help it and he found himself tilting his head thoughtfully at her to ask, "Have we met? I'm Cal, if we haven't."

Isabel shook her head, "I don't think we have. It's nice to meet you Cal. I'm Isabel, belatedly welcoming you to Fandom."

At least he was taking being constantly reminded by people who have been on this island longer better by now.

Isabel wondered about the curve balls he'd mentioned, but given that they'd only just met, she wouldn't be nosy. "Because you're right. Why things more difficult then they need to be?"

"I'm leaving in a bit less then two weeks. My boyfriend and I are going to drive my car back to Roswell so I can spend some time with my family before I leave for college in August."
