Second Floor Common Room [evening]

She'd been forewarned by Peter (and with Willow around, she was even less surprised) that the technology would be much advanced in comparison to what they knew. So when she discovered the televisions in the common rooms as she explored, Susan wasn't shocked or surprised so much as intrigued.

It took her a little while to work out how everything functioned, between the screen and the little rectangular thing with the buttons. However, once she understood that pointing the thing at the television and pressing the buttons was a way to control it, Susan made herself comfortable on the couch with some tea, and slowly began to peruse the channels.

Inara was wandering through common rooms, trying to find a very specific tea. So far, she'd had no luck on her own floor or Gavin's. "Oh, hello."

"Good evening," Susan said, ducking her head politely. "How does it find you?"

"Very well, thank you," she curtsyed, pleasantly surprised to find someone with proper formal manners. "My name is Inara Serra. Are you a new student?"

This was not Hannibal's floor but his floor was quiet and the only thing quiet was good for was sleeping or recovering from a hangover.

He would've let a 'Gone Explorin' sign on his door if he was twelve and a nerd. But, he was neither so he just wandered into the common room and looked around.

"Finally. A real live person."

"Have you been encountering any other kind?" she asked mildly, raising a brow.

"I've been encountering no on," he said emphatically. "I'm happy to see civilization."

Of course, he'd spent most of the time sleeping and hadn't looked in the right places for people.

There was still another night to go before summer session started up again, so Dick decided to make the most of it and get out and maybe meet some new kids.

Conveniently enough, there were a couple new kids in his common room. "Good evening," Dick said. "What's on TV tonight?"

"A vast array of things," Susan said, somewhat in awe as she flipped through the channels. "I'm afraid I've been unable to select anything."

"You know, I tend to have the same problem," Dick said. "What's the point in stopping before the batteries in the remote die?"

It had been a while since Naomi had actually been in her own common room, so she decided to spend some time in there, "hi," she said when she entered.

"Good evening," Susan said with a light smile.

"Good evening," Naomi replied with a smile, "are you one of the new students?" she asked.

Jack waved a slice of bread at Naomi. Seems like just yesterday he saw her.

"Hi there," Dick said. "You're not new, are you? But I don't think I actually know you. I'm Dick."

Meg came into the common room for a drink when she spotted a new person in the common room. She had failed at meeting new kids yesterday and figured she should make up for it now.

"Hi!" she said. Cheerfully. As per usual.

"Good evening," Susan replied, smiling and ducking her head respectfully. "How does it find you?"

"Hi," Dick said. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I know you yet."

Jack wandered in and started rifling through the fridge. There had to be someth--ah! Lunch meat. Looks like sandwich time.

Susan glanced at the young man who had entered without introduction, frowned briefly at the rudeness, and turned her attention to her tea and the television again.

Teyla was curious to see if the other floors had better tea than her own, and was pleased to find that the common room wasn't deserted. "Good evening," she said politely.

"And to you," Susan said with a smile, ducking her head. "Does the night find you well?"

Cimorene wandered into the common room for a change of scenery from her own room. "Good evening." She nodded to Susan and headed for the kitchen. "You've caught on much faster than I did."

"And to you," Susan said with a nod of her own. "I was warned. Bit of an unfair advantage."

Worf entered the common room looking less like he was there to socialize than actually patrol the common room and eliminate any potential troublemakers in the actual room.

He nodded in greeting to everyone there as he began to inspect the kitchen.

Susan, watching the strange creature, offered a quiet nod in return. He did not seem to wish to be disturbed.
