The pool, Thursday after classes

"...and here we are! Ta-da!" Amber exclaimed, arms extended. "The pool, Hannibal, in all it's non-YMCA glory."

Amber had indeed, stopped by his room to see if he was ready to head to the basement, and to see if he had still actually wanted to go. It was a yes on both accounts and she couldn't have been more pleased.

Shrugging off her bag, slipping off her flip-flops, she grinned over at him. "Last one in is a rotten egg." And she ran the few feet towards the pool, diving in.

[Amber's here for Hannibal, who was modded with permission, but the pool is totally open, yo!]

"And more," he said brightly, swimming closer...just so he could splash her.

"Uh oh, ominous music," Hannibal said, doing the smart thing and swimming backwards. "Everyone knows that ominous music leads to either lost limbs or some lame fakeout scene. I wonder what you'll be."

Hannibal kept backing away but slowly. Like he was going to flee in terror. He wasn't insane and he had eyes. Very good, nice ones.

"Dunno," he said, treading some water. "You planning on being the one to nibble on my finger?"

"Hmm." He pretended to think about while he ducked back into the water and got his hair wet again. "Either way, I'm not afraid. That's not in my vocabulary. Well, it is, but it doesn't pertain to me."

He'd leave clowns out of this. Creepy creepy clowns.

"Because being afraid if a waste of time," he said, all bravado. "And I'd rather spend my time doing better things. Like...avoiding pretty sharks."

He grinned and then answered her second question. "Home wasn't big enough for me. I had to bust out. But there was no song and dance because I know I just sounded like a movie musical there."

Hannibal kept moving backwards, almost lazily now, and kicked his feet mostly to splash her. "How'm I doing as a victim?"

[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not enough flailing?" he asked, laughing. "Not enough high pitched screaming?"

"I can do that," he said, smiling briefly before he started flailing his arms and legs enough to make a big splash. He didn't scream, someone could hear that, but he tried to look stricken.

All right, he felt no biting or teasing or brushing so obviously the shark hadn't made him a victim.

When he didn't feel her nearby anymore, he turned around and narrowed his eyes at her when he saw her.

"You left me allll alone in the pool," he said oh so sadly.

"Wrrrrinklin?" he repeated, swimming over towards her. "But I'm all alone and cold. And I'm new. I could get ever so lost."

"You're very logical," he said, pulling himself up to plop down next to her. "And now I'm enjoying the view."

"And now I almost miss the sun," he said, leaning closer to whisper conspiratorially, "because there's no sunscreen needed."

"I was more thinking of helping you but yeah, I'd probably need help," he said. "Cute giggle."
