4th Floor Common Room: Sunday evening [8-24-08]

Lana was trying very hard not to think about this being her last weekend in Fandom. So, once she'd moved her things back to her room, she'd headed out to the common room and settled herself down to watch the last of the Olympics. There was popcorn and fruit at present and she was seriously considering making some spaghetti later.

"Good," Lana said firmly. "Maybe people are finally starting to get the message."

"If I remember right they had insane checks too," Peter said. "Like before and after every event you had to give a blood sample, or something. It was enough that you almost wonder how the athletes didn't pass out from the blood loss."

"Especially Michael Phelps," Lana said with a grin. "There, I started off the litany."

"Very nice," Peter said. "The degree of difficulty was high but you managed to make it look effortless."

"And I kept my toes pointed the entire time. No faults for me!"

"Now can you do it starting out with standing on your head?" Peter asked.

Lana laughed and slipped off the couch and up into a perfect handstand. "Michael Phelps, Michael Phelps, Michael Phelps." Then she walked over and out of the handstand and back onto her feet.

"Well?"

Peter stood up and applauded, since how could you not? "Bravo! Seriously."

"Misspent youth," she said blushing. "Horseback riding, dance, gymnastics and cheerleading."

"I assume not at the same time?" Peter teased.

"Well..." she grinned. "A little mix here and there. The last three fit together well. Not so much on horseback, though."

"Hey, you never know," Peter said. "Some do."

"Okay," she said, blushing. "I will admit to trying a little of that on my own - when no one could see how foolish I looked on Donatello."

"Your secret is safe with me," Peter promised.

"I appreciate it," she said, still blushing a bit.

"By the way... why would your brother think I should talk to you about my academic plans? I'm not saying I'm going to. I'm just curious."

Peter facepalmed. "Are you going to be a lawyer?"

"Me? God, no!" Lana said. "I'm going to study forensic science."

"Ahhh, you have a plan." Peter nodded. "Nathan thinks I should have one of those."

"They're not so bad," Lana said slowly. "But it's not like I have much else."

"I love my brother but he was born wearing a suit," Peter explained. "I'm a slacker in comparison."

She laughed. "I can totally see him as a toddler running around in a suit."

"I'm told the trick was getting him out of one," Peter replied.

Her mind went to a nice, but very bad place for a moment.

Peter's, of course, did not. No matter what canon might seem to encourage

"Well, I'm on my own," Lana said. "Handful of good friends, but no family or home to go back to. And my friends are trying to make their own way, so... a plan is important for me to have any chance of getting what I want.
