Third Floor Common Room: Wednesday Afternoon

Anyone entering the common room at this time will notice that Dor is having an intensive conversation with the microwave.

"So... it's not magic?" Dor asked looking somewhat confused.

"What's the problem?" the microwave responded. "It's pretty simple. I have magnetron tube that sends out microwave radiation to heat water and other polarized molecules within food."

Dor just started at the microwave not understanding one word that it said.

"Okay. Fine. It's kind of like magic," the microwave said with a weary sigh.

Dor's befuddled expression showed that he still didn't understand what was going on.

"No," Seregil said. "We don't have electricity back home."

"Oh, neither do we," Dor said. "Most of the items we need either grow on their own or are magically powered."

"Magic seems to take its place where I'm from as well," Seregil said. "I'm Seregil."

"Dor," he said introducing himself. "Well it's good to know I'm not the only one thinking this place is a little confusing."

"You do get used to it," Seregil said. "And some of the things talk back to anyone, not just people who can magic them to."

"Really?" Dor asked. "That happens?"

"Ha!" the couch snarked. "Don't feel so special now do you?"

Dor glared at the couch. "Oh shut up."

"The television talks when you turn it on," Seregil said. "And so does the radio." He smiled slightly. "The radio often gossips about what's going on in Fandom."

"Oh?" Dor asked looking at the television. "I was in here the other night and everyone seemed very interested in it. It reminds me of something called the hypnogourd back home."

Seregil found the remote and turned the tv on. "It shows plays and sporting games and things," he explained as he flipped through the channels.

Dor nodded. "I forget what show the were showing the other night," Dor replied. "Can people talk through it?"
