Fifth Floor Common Room, Thursday Early Evening (Alex's Birthday Party)

Alex Drake was so not a party kind of guy, which fact Jen knew very well. Knowledge of said fact, though, didn't stop her from running a couple of streamers around the common room in a mostly restrained fashion, then putting up a hand-lettered banner that read "Happy Birthday Alex!" (as birthday banners are wont to read). The streamers and the lettering were both red, yes; she'd dithered over that for a bit but decided to go with it in the end.

As for the hand-lettering . . . sometimes, for a thirty-first century girl, Jen was still stuck in that "living in a drafty clock tower, scraping by on odd jobs" mentality.

Which was balanced out by the stacks of pizza boxes, the chocolate cake, the small forest of soda bottles, and the very large bowls of Cheetos. (She'd also put out a couple of trash cans labeled, brightly and redly, "RECYCLE PLEASE!" next to the table with the sodas, because . . . well, see above re: thirty-first century.)

For music, she'd tuned the TV to the Kira Ford concert that was running on one of the cable channels. Because sometimes she was a dork like that.

Adam arrived somewhat early, wondering if Jen needed any help with any last minute details. It looked like she had everything covered, though. He smiled at that.

Hoshi didn't think she'd met Alex, but she knew Jen and got the e-mail. She wasn't about to turn down an opportunity to be social these days.

Angela had no idea who the person the party was for was... But it was a party, and so far it didn't seem like anyone was going to kick her out for her lack of birthday boy knowledge.

She was just happily picking at cheetos and mingling for now.

Tony didn't know the birthday boy, but he was in favor of parties. He surveyed the food options and went straight for the pizza.

Lola was never one to say no to a party, so in spite of not yet having met the guy the party was for, she was there.

Andros didn't actually know Alex and he was rather confused about the idea of birthday parties but he had still shown up at least for a little while.

Dōjima wasn't going to skip this. She even showed up a little early, in case Jen needed some help getting stuff together.

Besides, she could smell the pizza already.

Romeo didn't know Alex at all, but Jen was Yurika's roommate and the party was only a few steps from his door, so he hardly had an excuse not to go. He took some chips and a soda and leaned against a wall to watch the arrivals.

So, it was apparently his roommate's birthday, so Cal figured he should probably make an appearance at the party to wish him as such. Even if the urge to stake out the room and enjoy the fact that it was default privacy while he was here was strong.

It didn't bother her one bit that she didn't think that she'd ever met Alex.

Friday, like the others, got the email and decided to show despite not knowing Alex. He soon would, after all, if he actually showed up to his own birthday party.

When he looked around, he noticed he didn't know most of the people here aside from 'seeing them in the hallway' kind of knowing. "Hi," he said to the room anyway.

Wes... really wasn't sure why he'd decided to come. It's not like he's friends with Alex or anything.

Well, okay, he kinda knew why. It was because Jen was the one who'd done the asking. But he's not gonna *tell* anyone that.

So he's here. And munching on pizza.

Adam left a couple (http://www.toontowncentral.com/gallery/data/500/cheetos.jpg) of wrapped presents (http://www.sz-wholesale.com/uploadFiles/upimg0%5CMP3-sunglasses_78640.jpg) on the table, with a note attached. One of them was a gag gift. He'd left Alex figure that one out.

Hoshi had no idea what to give Alex, so she went with the easiest thing to grab before she left work: a gift certificate for a free night's stay at the hotel and one of the towel animals from the lobby -- an owl.

Cal did consider getting for Alex a present that would, essentially, be something cool for the room that he would enjoy himself, but, instead, settled on a coupon for a sandwich and a drink at Luke's.

Earphones for when he was typing all night also crossed his mind.

You could probably tell which package on the table was from Jen -- not because it was the big one so much as because it was the pink one.

This . . . was supposed to go up hours ago, I know. But I've been drowning in work all day, plus fighting with a keyboard whose B, N, and M keys decided to start to fail today, so typing this took forever and it's been A Day and augh. -_-
