Third floor common room, Friday evening

Jan hadn't been in a common room since the incident with the amorous skunk, but found he wanted the company of humans. Given his recent encounter with the only other one of his kind he'd seen since he arrived, right now, he preferred humans.

There was no one in the common room, but the box with the pictures and the sound was turned on, so he lay down on the floor next to the couch to watch it. He perked up a little when he realised it was showing a story about horses.

That got a bit of a smile from her. "Doesn't seem like enough, though I'm glad it's helping you. I want to fight, not sit on the sidelines."

"I do not want to fight. I will if I must, I am a warrior trained, but I would be happy to never fight."

She leaned over to try and run one hand down his neck. "Too bad we couldn't switch," she said, "even if I wasn't trained, the need to fight is part of me."

Jan stretched out his neck again, totally relaxed with Ino patting him. "I would miss my extra legs," he said, amused. "And my horn."

"I'd probably be so ridiculously clumsy, trying to walk," she said, "imagine that, on four feet instead of two."

He snorted softly. "And I would feel as if I was always falling over."

"We're just used to our bodies." Ino smiled. "But it doesn't change the fact that I'd rather fight than have you do so."

"Much as I'd prefer not to fight," he said, rolling an eye to look at her, "I feel the same."

She sighed. "Unlucky," Ino moaned. "Someone is laughing at us."
