5th Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

With Liir's help, the common room was transformed into a vivid party room. Purple streamers were hung, balloons in every color were tied around, some left loose to pop or kick like some people liked to do (not her, geeze), and HAPPY BIRTHDAY INO! was everywhere.

Music was going and Amber was adding finishing touches to the gift table; little shiny curly things in purple everywhere. Hopefully Ino liked purple. While she was doing that, Liir was busy in the kitchen, getting the food in order and her mouth was watering just smelling some of what he had cooked.

"But you still would have come," she said with an eyebrow arch, "even if the place was doused in pink, right?"

"Even if I had to wear pink," he assured her. "I just wouldn't have looked as happy."

"Ah, but you would look good and that is what matters at a party," she assured him with a wink.

"Aw, Amber, you're a flatterer," he said and preened. "I'll have to wear pink next time I see you."

"Of course I'm a flatterer," she beamed. "How else do you think I get all the cute guys to talk to me?"

Except for Ned. Uh. Ned blushed and fled her presence.

"Good looks and charm," Hannibal said easily. "Two things you have in absolute abundance."

"Aw, you are such a flatterer," she preened. "But I do like it."

"And I will flatter you whenever you let me," he said and winked at her.

"Wellll," she tilted her head and tried to look cute. "I can't really accept too much flattery anymore. See, I have this boyfriend now."

"Oooooh." Hannibal noted that and smiled widely. "Congratulations! You happy?"

"Yah!" Bounce. "I think so!"

"When'd that happen?" Hannibal asked.

"Um. Last week." Sometime. Crap. Amber should have written that day down. "It's been a week and half at least."

"Happy week and a half at least anniversary," he said. "And I hope he flatters you everyday."

She grinned but then kind of just shrugged. "Well, he's not much into flattery. He's from the seventies you know." Of course, she thought hippie love was the total vibe back then. Uh. Cal's greek so that might explain it.

"As long as he makes you happy,then," Hannibal amended.

Amber raised her brows, bit her lip, and thought about that.

"He's very smart and likes to tease me. And hey, what about you? Seeing anyone special yet?"

"I see lots of people," he answered. "Not just one person, though. I date."

"My dating days are over," she mused thoughtfully. Not that Amber ever really dated but she felt important to say it. "Lucky girls."

"You're still dating," Hannibal said. "You're just dating exclusively now."

"Riiight, I knew that," she said. And she did, honestly. "Make sure you get some chips and dip."

"I will," he promised. "Talk to you later, Amber Atkins."

He winked at her once more before heading to get some chips and dip.
