5th Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

With Liir's help, the common room was transformed into a vivid party room. Purple streamers were hung, balloons in every color were tied around, some left loose to pop or kick like some people liked to do (not her, geeze), and HAPPY BIRTHDAY INO! was everywhere.

Music was going and Amber was adding finishing touches to the gift table; little shiny curly things in purple everywhere. Hopefully Ino liked purple. While she was doing that, Liir was busy in the kitchen, getting the food in order and her mouth was watering just smelling some of what he had cooked.

Yay, party!

He shrugged.

"As long as everyone enjoys it, and Ino especially. You think she'll like the cake?"

He was a little anxious.

"Thank you, though. For the compliment."

Cal gave the cake another glance.

"If she doesn't like the cake," he observed, "then she's crazier than I thought. I'd say that then she should wear it, but then I decided that if she doesn't like it, then she's crazy, and more for us."

"I don't think it would stand to wearing very well," he said with a faint smirk as he imagined Ino attempting as such.

"How did you fare this weekend? I was somewhat... out of commission, as they say."

"I don't know," Cal mused lightly, "I think it would be a good color for her. And this weekend? I fared..." He drew in a slight breath of hesitation as he decided, "well enough. Any problems I had were completely unrelated to that island; I stuck to my room and my workout and avoided it nicely."

"Considering who my nemesis might have been, I'm very glad of it, really."

He shuddered at the thought before shaking it off and moving to a grin. Best to think of happy things.

"It's good to see you here, though. It's been a time."

A natural curiosity kicked on in Cal, both for the meaning of Liir's shudder and the fact that he hadn't really considered who his nemesis would be. No one really fit the bill; not in a way that would effect him the same way other had been. Okay, Rex Reese would annoy the snot out of him, but big deal.

"It has been a while. I wouldn't dare miss Ino's birthday party, though. Wouldn't. Dare." Extra emphasis on those words, to ensure that Liir caught the fear of retribution in Cal's voice.
