5th Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

With Liir's help, the common room was transformed into a vivid party room. Purple streamers were hung, balloons in every color were tied around, some left loose to pop or kick like some people liked to do (not her, geeze), and HAPPY BIRTHDAY INO! was everywhere.

Music was going and Amber was adding finishing touches to the gift table; little shiny curly things in purple everywhere. Hopefully Ino liked purple. While she was doing that, Liir was busy in the kitchen, getting the food in order and her mouth was watering just smelling some of what he had cooked.

"You? At a party?" Dōjima put her hand to her heart and gasped. "I think the world just ended."

"If I were a lesser woman, I might go back on my word and try to get you to dance with me. For Ino-chan's birthday, of course."

"Thank God you're more woman that I could handle, then," Cal replied smartly, smirking a little at Dōjima's theatrics. "And, as far as my attendance, the Fates have worked very hard to get me here. Not only would I probably incur physical damage from the birthday girl if I didn't show up, but my girlfriend dragged me here on top of it." He gave a slight quirk of his head in Amber's general direction.

"Yes, vexing the birthday-girl-ninja by not showing to her party might shorten your lifespan." Dōjima deadpanned.

"Girlfriend?" She glanced in the indicated direction and grinned. "Oh! Amber of the bad romance novels? That reminds me, I need to chase her down."

"Oh, God," Cal groaned, hand to his face. "Those books! Although I guess I can't bemoan them too much. They've given me endless ammunition for teasing her."

"I got it from Romeo, who got it from Reno, and you probably don't want to hear about how we're passing your girlfriend around. Well, her book, at least," Dōjima teased. "I was thinking of asking her if she wanted to form a book club. We can exchange romance novels."

He probably shouldn't have, but Cal couldn't help a small chuckle at Dōjima's phrasing. "She did at least tell me about Reno's dirty magazines, but that conversation didn't get very far once I mentioned actual porno. And I really think you guys should do that book club. I'd join!"

For the lulz. Not that Cal knew that phrase or anything, but that didn't make it any less applicable.

"Book club only," she warned, tilting her head as she considered it. "I love Reno, I do, but I do not need to know the contents of his actual porn collection."

"That's what Host Club was for, anyway." Pool, porn, and hanging out with the guys.

"Host Club?" Cal asked, arching an eyebrow. "Why do I suddenly feel all dirty when you say that?"

"Reno's ex-roommate started it," Dōjima said dryly. "It's, ano, a club? Where the boys entertain girls? Dancing, dinners, that sort of thing."

"Except that he dropped out of Fandom, and Reno ended up taking it over." Yurika grinned and spread her hands. "And lo, there was a pool table and porn. I should ask him if he's going to keep running it this year."

Cal took a second to rub his forehead. Not because of the things that were said, but because of the all too personal memories they were bring up.

And, still, some sick and twisted, masochistic part of him left him asking, "Were there any poles involved?"

"No, but there was a dartboard," she said cheerfully. "I think if they added the pole, they would have had to take the club off-campus."

"I would imagine," Cal said, agreeably, "that it would be a little harder to keep it under the school sponsorship at that point. Pool and darts don't sound too bad, though."

He wasn't saying anything about the porn.

"It's a nice pool table, too," Yurika said wistfully. "I think it's still set-up in the music room, if you want to play a round sometime."

"You'd have to teach me," Cal admitted, with an embarrassed grin as he scratched his chin. "I've never actually really played."
