4th Floor Common Room [Tuesday, Afternoon]

Since she'd had a first period class today, Angela figured she was allowed a lazy afternoon lounging on a couch with microwave popcorn. She flicked past channels as she tried to pick and choose her viewing, still really impressed by the sheer range of things on these days.

Angela kept up her channel surfing, until she came across a music channel, and saw her father taking center stage at some classic rock revival.

... Apparently, there are things that really hadn't changed much.

[[ooc: Open! I'm around until I get bored of hanging out on Campus, then there may be some SP... It always said Tuesday. *shifty eyes*]]

"Oh?" Dor asked. "Is there a bit of difference between now and then? How did you end up here?"

"What's return from the past?" Dor asked clearly missing the italics that were used for emphasis. "Doesn't that happen when you go back home?"

"I should," Dor agreed with a nod.

He paused a second before opening his mouth to ask another question

Luckily the couch anticipated it.

"A movie is like a television show," the couch explained. "Only longer and usually shown in a theater."

"Oh!" Dor exclaimed. "Like the curse fiends!"

"Whatever," the couch replied.

"You mean the couch or the curse fiends?" Dor asked backed.

"She means me, dummy," the couch sighed.

"Don't mind the couch. I can make inanimate things talk," Dor explained.

"Well she should mind me!" the couch protested. "Everyone comes here to sit on me and talk and ignore the TV! I should get proper credit!"

"Well you are very comfortable," Dor said patting the couch.

"That's better," the couch grumbled.

"I get that," Dor said with a sympathetic nod. "Sorry. I've grown up with it all my life so it's pretty much second nature to me."

"Like what all the time?" the coffee table asked. "What's she talking about? Is she calling us annoying?"

"Well I never!" the chair exclaimed. "Here we are providing comfort and pleasure and she calls us annoying."

"That's enough," Dor said sharply and the furniture fell silent. He turned back to Angela and gave her an apologetic look. "They do tend to get mouthy but when I tell them to shut up they usually stay quiet. Plus it's always helpful if I need to get information."

"Well they're not really sentient," Dor explained looking a little embarrassed. "My magic just enables them to communicate. Though if they had any secrets to share I could compel them to tell me what they were. If they even knew anything to tell me."

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know what you mean," Dor replied. "Though it's a bit different for me since I'm telling them how everyone makes things instead of having magic do it for them."

"Well we make some things but other items grow naturally," Dor explained. "For instance instead of baking bread? We have breadfruit trees where you can pick the loaf right off a branch."

[NP!]

"It kind of is, actually. If you go to the garden behind the stables, you can actually see some of them," Dor said with a grin. "My friend from home sent them as a gift."

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks," he said taking a few bits of popcorn. "It is nice actually. If I get a little homesick, I just go down and have some pie. Plus with it becoming fall now, the trees are growing some warmer clothes so I can get some items ready for winter to boot."

"And shoes," Dor said with a nod. "There's also a tree that grows flannel blankets, another grows pillows, milk, cocoa-nuts with chocolate milk and chocolate cherries."

"It's pretty nice," Dor said leaning back. "However we don't have televisions, movies or music about stones."

"Yeah," couch chuckled. "You can't take those things for granite."

"Ha-ha," Dor said dryly.
