The gym [early evening]

After a few good hours of wallowing, Ben made his way down to the gym to work off his tension in a more productive way.

The punching bag might not be all that appreciative of it, given the way the chain was squealing each time Ben hit it.

"Think they'll be mad that Jacen didn't let them know about this weekend?"

"...Honestly?"

He nodded.

"Yeah, I think so. And I think they'll be right to be mad."

"Probably," Ben agreed. "I don't think I want to be there to see that."

"Probably not," Jaina said. "That might be something for over the comm."

He nodded hard. "That way Mom can yell without me hearing."

"it helps that I'd like to think she would save it till you had gone, at least."

Ben smiled. "Yeah, but the doors aren't quite that soundproof."

"I'll give you that," she said. "And earplugs probably wouldn't really work."

"It's hard to miss Mom when she wants to get her point across."

It was kind of obvious how much Ben missed her.

"Also true," she said. "When was the last time you talked to her?"

"Before I went home the last time," Ben admitted.

"Could always call again," Jaina suggested. "I'm sure it'll make her feel better." And him, too, but she wasn't going to say that out loud to him.

"After this weekend," Ben said, nodding. "I don't suppose she's coming to visit you, huh?"

She shook her head. "She came last year, but she and... your dad," wow, that was weird to say for some reason, "are completely busy. Just Kyp this time, I think."

Ben grinned. "I like Kyp."

Jaina grinned. "Really."

"Well, he has stupid hair, but he always makes dinner interesting."

Jaina sort of stared. "He has dinner with you guys?" Wow, that'd be a change from her time.

"Not like, monthly, but every once and a while, sure," Ben said. "Most of the Council come in and out."

She couldn't help but be a little proud of Kyp there. "So the Council actually worked out?" Mostly, she was surprised there were enough Jedi around to need a Council.

"Sure," Ben said. "They're practically family."

Which was what was causing so many problems, really.

Jaina couldn't help but remember Leia's words, about how the people you went through wars with were the people you'd depend on your whole life. "It's so weird to hear some of this sometimes, and go back where it's... not like that at all."
