Angela took herself down to the rec room early for party preparations. She'd had an offer of willing help, but also recruited some girl with streaks of pink hair from across the hall to help her bring things down just in case. The other girl's protests that she was pretty sure she had no idea who this guy was fell on deaf ears.

By the time evening came, the common room was all decked out in a bunch of bright balloons, a couple of 'Happy Birthday Hannibal!' posters, and some artsy-looking homemade streamers. She may have mixed in some interesting Cosmo article titles with the normal paper when she was making them. Keep an eye out for those if you're into extra reading material.

The music is going, food is out, and near the door is a tub of ~~completely moddable~~ party hats. Birthday boy wanted hats, he was going to get hats. People who don't take one, run the risk of being pounced and having one forced on them (tactics may vary depending on how well she knows said people and her sugar intake).

"Amber Atkins!" Hannibal said happily. "It's my birthday!"

"Hannibal King!" She laughed cheerfully. "You are so old!" She then totally threw herself at him in an attempt to hug him tight.

"Mature, I'm maaaaaature," he said and returned her hug just as tightly.

"Okay... maaaature," she said with a playful eyeroll as she pulled back from him. "You look cheerfully great!"

"I feel cheerfully great!" he answered. "And you look cheerfully happy to be here! How's it going?"

"There's usually cake at birthday parties," she teased. "And things are going super, seriously. I'm trying to get all my feeling good's in now before this weekend, when my ma comes down to crack my brain open."

"See, I got lucky there," he said and bounced. "No parents but I've got a friend coming down. You'll have to meet her."

"Yah? I can do that. I would say the same of my family, but Loretta would try to jump your bones, and if she couldn't manage that, she might stick to dry humping your leg." She gave him a look. "No lie."

Laughing, Hannibal asked, "How old is she, anyway? You've talked about her before."

"I'm not sure really. Fifty something would be my guess but with the make-up and hair one might think she could still have kids," she answered with a wry grin. "I sure hope she doesn't try to get it on with anyone here in town. I will never live that down."

"Maybe you can take her places when there's no one else around?" Hannibal asked. "Keep her away from the boys?"

"To meet her is to know her, Hannibal King. You'll see. But oh my gosh, tell me how you've been and what you've been up to!" She bounced, obviously in a very good mood tonight.

[Running out to dinner, bbl!]

"Not too much, actually," he answered. "Classes, cheerleading, sleeping, eating, having fun!"

"Cheerleading!" she bounced. "I have to come and watch you!"

"You do!" Hannibal agreed. "I'm the best looking guy there but I think I'm biased."

"Oh my gosh no, I know you are!" she said, her Minnesota accent pretty heavy right there.

"Awww, Amber, I knew you cared," he said and grinned. "If we do a cheerleading thing this weekend, you should come out!"

"Like... I'd have to bring my ma and stuff?" Oh lord.

"Well, no, you could sneak away," he said and laughed. "Leave them eating a nice lunch somewhere."

"Yah! I could do that," she said, clearly happy that Hannibal was smarter than her. "If Loretta smells young male cheerleader flesh and comes running, it's so not my fault."
