Angela took herself down to the rec room early for party preparations. She'd had an offer of willing help, but also recruited some girl with streaks of pink hair from across the hall to help her bring things down just in case. The other girl's protests that she was pretty sure she had no idea who this guy was fell on deaf ears.

By the time evening came, the common room was all decked out in a bunch of bright balloons, a couple of 'Happy Birthday Hannibal!' posters, and some artsy-looking homemade streamers. She may have mixed in some interesting Cosmo article titles with the normal paper when she was making them. Keep an eye out for those if you're into extra reading material.

The music is going, food is out, and near the door is a tub of ~~completely moddable~~ party hats. Birthday boy wanted hats, he was going to get hats. People who don't take one, run the risk of being pounced and having one forced on them (tactics may vary depending on how well she knows said people and her sugar intake).

"Oh no," Hurley said. "It would be very bad if I had people coming."

That got a chuckle out of Hoshi. "I know the feeling. My parents are smart enough to stay away, but I have a possible future commanding officer who got an invitation. I'm a little nervous about Captain Archer showing up here."

"A possible what?" Hurley said.

"I'm hoping to join Star... er, I mean, the military once I graduate from Fandom," said Hoshi. "And Captain Archer was pretty impressed with my skill as a translator. He has been pulling some strings to let me participate in some of their training programs while I'm still in high school."

"Dude, that's awesome," Hurley said. "You want me to talk you up to him?"

"That would be awesome," said Hoshi with a grin. "I mean, he must think pretty highly of me if he gave me his dog to take care of while he's deployed, but every little bit helps, right?"

"Yeah," Hurley said. "I'll make sure to do my best, if I see him."

"Thanks," said Hoshi. "Hopefully I can keep him from freaking out about the time difference."

Hurley laughed. "Yeah, that might be a problem, huh?"

"If he reacts the way I did, he's in trouble," said Hoshi.

"Hopefully he'll be okay," Hurley said. "I mean, just... keep him away from the unicorn guy."
