Cheerleading Exhibition; The Gym; Saturday Afternoon [ 10/25 ]

It was time for the cheerleaders to go about and do their thing in showing all the family and friends of the student body their school spirit! The gym, of course, was decorated in blue and gold, with a giant, sparkly "GO GREMLINS" banner, and there was up-tempo, bass-thumping music spilling out of the speakers as the cheerleaders got read and the audience filed in.

Which was right about the time that Ichigo realised the staring was rude and he straightened his shoulders. "You never know around here," he supplied.

"Considering some of the get ups I've seen the last twenty four hours," Billy said slowly. "I can almost believe that."

"Have you seen the unicorn?" Ichigo asked, because that one was hard to miss.

Billy raised both brows, and gave a low laugh, fairly sure the kid was just joking.

"No, I don't think so," he replied. "But Ange pulled me away from the picnic pretty quick."

"I'm not kidding," Ichigo said, hearing the disbelief in Billy's voice. "Ange?"

"Sure, kid," he said in the placating sort of tone that suggested her really didn't.

He lifted a hand to indicate Angela out on the mats. "My daughter," he explained.

"You're Angela's dad?" he asked, the surprise winning out over the scowl he'd otherwise thrown the man. Somehow he was expecting someone less... bearded to be her dad.

"Isn't she lucky she took after her mom," he drawled, obviously not unused to that sort of response.

It was likely accompanied by a smile, but with all the facial hair, it was sometimes quite well disguised.

"Yes," he said instantly. "She wouldn't look good with a beard." Which might not be the thing to say to someone's father. "I mean, not that there's anything wrong with a beard. When you're a guy. It wouldn't look good on her." He needed to shut up.

"I feel sure she'd take that as a complement somehow," Billy said, obviously rather amused by the hole this kid was trying to dig his way out of.

"Whats your name?" he asked.

"Ichigo Kurosaki," he said and he couldn't help it, the beard was hard to ignore. "I'm in the same year as Angela." Leaving out the part where he'd been avoiding her for the last two weeks.

"Ichigo," he repeated, probably as a way of committing it to memory.

"Good to finally meet one of Ange's friends," he said. "Was beginnin' to think she was keeping me at a distance on purpose."

It was quite possible she was. She didn't get much alone time with her dad, and tried to make the most of it when she could get it.

The man didn't look as embarrassing as his dad, so Ichigo couldn't quite think of a reason why she would do that. "It's good meeting you too, sir," he said anyway. "I don't think she'd do that? She's too nice for that."

"Think she finds the recognition a bit awkward sometimes," he said to Ichigo with a wry huff of laughter.

"Recognition?" Ichigo asked, music really not being his thing.

"People tend to know me," Billy explained. "From TV, the radio, that sort of thing. I'm a musician."

Now he wondered if Chad would know him. "So you're famous? She never said anything about that."

"I think she prefers to make her own mark," Billy said simply.

"That makes sense," he nodded, he preferred people not to form their opinions based on meeting his father either. Still, it felt like a different thing. "She does too, she got her paintings shown in the art gallery here," he said.

Billy arched an eyebrow benath that beanie of his. "She failed to mention that," he said. "I'm gonna have to interrogate her a little later on."

Oops. "Just don't tell her I said that?" Ichigo asked quickly.

"Any particular reason?" he asked, a little curious.

"In case she gets annoyed that someone told you?" And because he was already avoiding her and he didn't need that added to his crimes.

Billy shook his head slightly. "Does she really strike you as the type?"

He let out a breath. "No, not really." He was just used to the type. She was more like Orihime, though, and he was going to blame that comparison and seeing her here. "I just like to play it safe."
