Cheerleading Exhibition; The Gym; Saturday Afternoon [ 10/25 ]

It was time for the cheerleaders to go about and do their thing in showing all the family and friends of the student body their school spirit! The gym, of course, was decorated in blue and gold, with a giant, sparkly "GO GREMLINS" banner, and there was up-tempo, bass-thumping music spilling out of the speakers as the cheerleaders got read and the audience filed in.

"Very good," Missouri said, sitting down. "It's always nice to come and see the boys, and it's even better to come and find them happy."

"They don't get nearly enough of that," Peter agreed.

"I agree. But I'm working on that," Missouri said. She gave Peter a completely smug look. "From what I hear, you are as well."

Peter couldn't help but grin. "Doing my best to try."

"I told you you'd have a special place in Sam's life," Missouri said proudly. "I'm glad the two of you finally stopped being blind."

Peter's grin got bigger. "Me too."

"I hope I don't have to give you any warnings about what might happen if you hurt him," she said. "I think you know better than that, and you don't seem like that kind of boy."

"No ma'am," Peter said. "I just hope I can make him happy."

"I think you're going to make him very happy, Peter," she said, hoping her tone made it clear that she had good reason to say that. Then she glanced towards where he was with the other cheerleaders. "Especially if you keep supporting him in his...extracurricular activities," she teased.

"It's possible this one was my fault," Peter said.

"Was there a bet involved?"

"I seem to have this thing for attracting cheerleaders," Peter said. "It may have spilled."

"It certainly took a long time to spill then," Missouri remarked.

"I'm there for him either way," Peter said.

"Even if things get rough?" Missouri asked. "The Winchesters aren't exactly the safest family to be around, and I know you said before that you'd stick with Sam no matter what, but things have changed between the two of you."

"Not from my perspective," Peter said.

Missouri had to smile at that. "No, I suppose you still care about him just as much, don't you?"

"Something like that," Peter told her. "I know he may have tough times ahead. Far as I'm concerned that means he needs me even more."

It was times like this that Missouri wished she could see exactly what was in store for Sam, to warn Peter too.

"You're going to have to remind him of that," Missouri said. "Sam is just like his father, pushing people away when there's trouble. Promise me you won't let him convince you he doesn't need you."

"He'll find I'm a hard guy to push away," Peter assured her. "I can be pretty stubborn when I want to."

"Oh good," Missouri said, possibly looking more pleased than she should have at the idea of someone being more stubborn than Sam. "I think this will work out just fine."

"Thank you," Peter said. "That means a lot to me."

"It means a lot to me too, to know that I don't have to worry about Sam as much," Missouri replied.

"I'll do my best to take care of him," Peter said.

Missouri smiled, looking greatly reassured. "I'll make sure he takes care of you too, in case he didn't already know that."
