Cheerleading Exhibition; The Gym; Saturday Afternoon [ 10/25 ]

It was time for the cheerleaders to go about and do their thing in showing all the family and friends of the student body their school spirit! The gym, of course, was decorated in blue and gold, with a giant, sparkly "GO GREMLINS" banner, and there was up-tempo, bass-thumping music spilling out of the speakers as the cheerleaders got read and the audience filed in.

[[ OCD's a'coming got spirit, gold and blue! OCD's got spirit, how 'bout you? ]]

"Yeah, we hadn't gotten there yet," he said, taking his own turn at glaring and sending it towards Kaywinnit. "But yes, she's from the future. And from another planet."

"Whole 'nother galaxy, even," Kaylee added helpfully.

"Really?" Chuck finally found her voice. "I mean...how? Is that kind of thing normal here?"

"Yes and I was planning on explaining some of this to you later," Ned assured her. "I didn't want to make the first night full of weird stuff. I wanted to just talk with you."

"One time we all turned into ponies, too," Kaylee added helpfully.

"Oooh, ponies?" Chuck asked delightedly, almost bouncing at that.

"This place is unusual," he said, trying to reassure Chuck that it wasn't a crazy place or anything. "I didn't turn into a pony. I stayed myself."

He smiled a little.

"Next time, maybe I'll be a bee."

Kaylee narrowed her eyes and added, "And Ned turned into a priest a couple weekends ago."

Chuck just tilted her head to stare at Ned.

Ned closed his eyes and rubbed his temple. "I-it's a long story. I was a priest for a few days, yeah."

He almost wanted to be one now so he didn't have to be himself.

"Um, this place is kind of weird, if you weren't getting that. But, you knew me back then and we did weird stuff. It wasn't a complete change."

Kaylee decided she was being kind of mean, and he probably didn't deserve that. So she just reached over for Ned's hand. "It's just kinda different here, s'all."

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, Chuck," he said quietly, blushing. "I didn't want to overwhelm you when I just got you back."

"Wait, no, you're from space?" Chuck asked Kaylee in amazement. "How'd you get here? And the future? I thought that was impossible."

Kaylee raised her brows, but said, "I don't rightly know, which is the answer with most of the stuff that happens here, honestly. A lot of it just kinda...happens an' then we try t'figure out where to go from there."

"Not much isn't possible here," he laughed nervously. "I mean, I go to parties now. That's a lot weirder than me turning into a priest."

"You go to parties, you're...friends with a space-faring cheerleader...." Chuck smiled. "But you're still Ned."

"And you're still Chuck," he answered, smiling. "Things are weird but not that weird."
