Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

The fifth-floor common room had been transformed into a riot of color and sound by the two intrepid decorators. When you had Rikku and Dōjima doing the artistic design, and they were basing it off of Romeo's collection of loud shirts, it was bound to be, ah, creative.

There were balloons and streamers everywhere, and the party even had some piñatas full of candy for people to swing at. Simply because everyone (Rikku) liked candy, and Dōjima was a fan of party games that made other people look like idiots.

"What if I just went and played them anyway and then deprived you of all the fun of nagging me to do it?"

"I would be thrilled beyond belief that people are enjoying themselves and playing the games, and then I'd have to find something else to torment you with," Dōjima proclaimed. "No rest for the wicked, you know."

"And what if I don't enjoy myself while playing the games, then?" Cal wondered.

"I'll be sad?" she tried, giving him large puppy-eyes. "Games are supposed to be fun! What's there not to like about hitting giant animals filled with candy? Or trying to pin the tail on the horse-thing?"

"Hey, I never said they weren't fun," Cal pointed out. "I was just thinking that it might be more fun to not enjoy myself to get you back for all the times you've driven me crazy."

"I'm being good!" Dōjima laughed. "I'm not dragging you out on the dancefloor, or setting Ino-chan on you, so don't be a brat!"

"Besides, I'm the good-crazy, and you like it. Who else would set cheese on fire with you?"

"Uhh, Amber, Claire, and Ino," Cal listed off, giving Dōjima a smarmy, triumphant sort of look. "I could probably get Toby from the Times to do it, too, since he claims to be Greek."

"Shirtless-Toby?" Dōjima asked, raising an eyebrow. "Are we sure it's a good idea to let him play with fire?"

He seemed sweet enough, and Dōjima was pretty sure he was Reno's Little Brother, but... yeah.

There was a slight pause.

"Good point," Cal allowed. "But my point was merely that you're not the only one who I can get to light cheese on fire with me, so there." He stuck out his tongue a little to finish the point.

"Yes, but I'm the one you asked in class," she pointed out, wagging a finger. "And watch that tongue, mister, or I might pinch it!"

"Pinch it?" Cal asked, arching an eyebrow. "What, before it goes back in my mouth? Are you a ninja now, too, Dojima?"

"I could be! I'm Japanese!" she answered, making wee-tiny pinching motions at him. "I could be a specialized tickle-ninja, and you'd never know!"

"Tickling and tongue pinching are two completely different specializations, Dojima," Cal said, in the mocking you're-an-idiot-and-I'm-such-an-expert-on-ninjas-clearly voice.

"That's just what we let you gaijin boys think," Dōjima said loftily. "It wouldn't do to let you learn the real secrets of the tickle-ninja!"

"Gaijin?"

"Hai, a crazy-foreigner! Someone who thinks he knows all our super-secret ninja-things!" Dōjima replied, smirking. She was just being silly at this point, but it was fun. "Really, Cal, why do you think all the ninja on the island are attractive women? It's to keep you boys from thinking too hard about our nefarious plans!"

Cal considered that and realized that Dōjima actually had a point about the attractive woman part. Although he could contest a few unattractive traits.

"Well now," he said, "I will be thinking about them. Some ninja you are, revealing all the best secrets!"

"I didn't say I was a good one!" She wasn't. Dōjima would make a terrible ninja. For one, she'd have to hit things, and she much prefered firearms.

"Or maybe I was supposed to say that, and it's all part of our scheme."

"Oh, please," Cal rolled his eyes. "That suggests that I'd let it get under my skin. Trust me, little ninja girls who think they're clever aren't the only ones that play that game."

In fact, Cal remembered being quite deft at it back in his Calliope days.
