Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

The fifth-floor common room had been transformed into a riot of color and sound by the two intrepid decorators. When you had Rikku and Dōjima doing the artistic design, and they were basing it off of Romeo's collection of loud shirts, it was bound to be, ah, creative.

There were balloons and streamers everywhere, and the party even had some piñatas full of candy for people to swing at. Simply because everyone (Rikku) liked candy, and Dōjima was a fan of party games that made other people look like idiots.

"D'awww, lookit that," Reno said, stepping up to Romeo and grinning. "All growin' up and shit! Now even if them bars wanna card you, you're in the clear, huh?"

It kind of made Reno want to reach out and mess up his hair. Awwwwwww.

"Outside the states I am!" Romeo said gleefully. "And Yurika can't claim to be the older woman any longer. And I could buy all the cigarettes and porn I wanted, though I'm trying to give up the first."

He got all that out without a breath. "Thank you for coming."

"Heh. If you kick the habit, give the leftovers to me. I won't complain." Reno chuckled and crossed his arms over his chest. "How's your birthday goin' so far, man?"

"I threw them in the ocean," Romeo said apologetically. "I thought it would end temptation. But it's a good birthday besides that. Yurika did an amazing job pulling this together."

"Eh. If I did that, I think it'd just bring up the temptation to go for a November swim in the Atlantic, zoto."

That would be cold.

"She did do a damn good job puttin' this thing into motion, didn't she?" Reno nodded a little. "Covered all her bases, too."

Reno had to demonstrate what he meant by pulling out the neck of the bottle of Everclear that he'd concealed in his jacket. Just to show that this was going to be a proper sort of party, of course.

"I'll let the fish enjoy the smokes. I'd not want to risk robbing them," Romeo deadpanned, then grinned as he noticed the bottle. "She did! Excellent provisions all around."

"I gotta say, man, you found yourself a girl who knows how to arrange a decent party. An important commodity in today's society." Reno chuckled as he tucked the Everclear away again. "I brought a bottle for you, too. You can dump it like I'm gonna do, or you can keep it for yourself. Either way, man, happy birthday."

Reno figured he was getting the basic idea of these birthday party things.

He handed Romeo a bottle, wrapped crudely in the last issue of the FH Times.

"I think I'll hold on to this for now," Romeo decided, weighing the bottle in his hands. "Dojima is wonderful at so very many things, parties not the least of them. I'm blessed she puts up with me."

... yes he was a huge, smitten sap.
