Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

The fifth-floor common room had been transformed into a riot of color and sound by the two intrepid decorators. When you had Rikku and Dōjima doing the artistic design, and they were basing it off of Romeo's collection of loud shirts, it was bound to be, ah, creative.

There were balloons and streamers everywhere, and the party even had some piñatas full of candy for people to swing at. Simply because everyone (Rikku) liked candy, and Dōjima was a fan of party games that made other people look like idiots.

"That suggests," Cal reminded her, "that I ever let my guard off in things like that. You know I don't."

Only after they'd gotten well past that point and even then...He'd even always made Amber turn out the lights.

"That too," she sighed, rolling her eyes. "Even though a good make-out session is totally an easy way to get some people to do things for me."

Cal cleared his throat a little. "You go with that tact often, Ino?" he asked, with no judgment in his voice at all. Really. None.

Okay, maybe some; the little look he gave her probably didn't help, either, but, really, who used make out sessions for leverage?

Thought the boy who slept with his best friend's brother to get back at her for liking another guy.

She tossed her head. "Mostly with Kabuto, when he was here," Ino said, steadily staring at him. "And since we were dating, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. And done it a few times to Ichigo since."

"Make-out sessions and getting flashed," Cal muttered. "I don't think I know this Ichigo guy, but," he kind of hated him at that moment, "he's a lucky son of a bitch."

"It's fun to make him spaz," she said, by way of explanation. "And he's not that lucky, or he'd have a saner dad."

"If I had to pick a sane dad or boobs," Cal remarked, "I'd pick boobs."

Of course, his father had been sane and was dead and therefor no longer a threat; he even had the Greek Orthodox tradition supporting him in knowing that, since he stood guard at the door during the funeral, Milton would not come back to haunt him, beyond the ever-there imprint of messed up genes.

Ino laughed. "Yeah, well, so would he. But he'd also rather his dad didn't go 'round asking if I'd made a 'man' out of him yet. And being generally creepy."

"...His dad did that?"

"Didn't even ask my name first!" Ino made a face. "Mental."

"Well," Cal said, pausing dramatically before he asked, "have you?"

He prepared to be smacked for that one.

She kicked at him and tried to smack him.

"Cal!"

"Ah-how!" Oh, the mixture of pain and wanting to laugh was a bitter brew. He gingerly rubbed at least one injured spot as he defended himself with a, "You're the one talking about it."

"And it's none of your business asking if I have or not," she informed him. "Though I do rather you over Ichigo's dad."

By quite a margin, really.

"Hey, I'm sorry, but if you're going to sit there and talk about making out with the guy to get him to do your bidding or whatever, I didn't think a simple question would be out of line."

"Asking if I'd had sex with him to get him to do what I wanted?" She glanced at him, frowning. "I've got more principles than that. And, not that it ought to matter, but I haven't slept with him."

"I never suggested you did that to get what you wanted," Cal said loftily. Even if she had, he'd be in no place to really judge. "Just if you had, and mostly as a joke anyway."

"Not funny," she informed him, though a tiny bit of a smile was twitching at her lips. "I would throw soap at you if I had one on me."

"Well, looks like someone's unprepared!" Cal commented, with a triumphant tone. Not so much that he wasn't being hit with soap so much as he saw the chance to dance away from sex and took it gratefully.

"I could get soap in less than a minute," she reminded him.

"Still doesn't subtract from the fact that you don't have it now," Cal insisted.

"And you try and accuse me of being all technical at times," she muttered.
