Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

The fifth-floor common room had been transformed into a riot of color and sound by the two intrepid decorators. When you had Rikku and Dōjima doing the artistic design, and they were basing it off of Romeo's collection of loud shirts, it was bound to be, ah, creative.

There were balloons and streamers everywhere, and the party even had some piñatas full of candy for people to swing at. Simply because everyone (Rikku) liked candy, and Dōjima was a fan of party games that made other people look like idiots.

That got a sideways glance as she contemplated the fact that her after-party activities would probably count as 'getting into trouble'.

"Good enough," Ino decided eventually. "And well, I haven't been causing much trouble lately, honest."

"I haven't had to pull you away from anything kicking and screaming lately," Chad observed, "so that's a good sign."

"Ha ha, you would remember that," she muttered, rolling her eyes a bit. "I'm trying to talk things out instead of freaking out."

Hey, Chad did remember things. Things that were important and that, he felt, kind of was, especially since she'd ended up reminding him of it when she apologized. Actually, it was the apology he remembered most, and, through that, he could remember the event.

"Talking things out is good," Chad said, oh-so-ironically.

"But kinda boring sometimes," Ino admitted. "It's nice to have a good fight."

"We'll have to differ there," Chad said with a soft, very faint smile. "But maybe I've just had enough fights to last me for a long time."

"You're nicer than me," she said easily. "I like being mean sometimes."

Chad didn't say anything to that for a while, because it wasn't that simple at all, and he definitely wasn't always so nice.

"Just as long," he finally said, hoping he didn't sound chiding, but, even if he did, he was her big brother, so he could be, "as it's only sometimes."

In her experience, he had been though.

"Just sometimes," she promised him, smiling a bit. "'Cause it's not fun all the time."

Chad shook his head. "Definitely not. And it's no way to get things done."

"It can be," Ino insisted.

"Being mean all the time," Chad grunted, "will get you nothing but trouble. Karma, Ino."

There was a pause, before, almost quietly enough that it might not even be heard, he added, "Trust me, imouto."

"I'm trying," she said. "And wasn't planning on always being mean, either."
