Third floor common room, Sunday afternoon

Staying in her room was just making Jaina feel ickier, and she didn't do well with that sort of thing. She wasn't nearly as bad as she was yesterday, just blah-feeling. Which meant that after she'd gotten everything done she needed to for now, she camped out on a sofa and started flipping channels.

And remembered why it was that she'd never really watched TV to begin with. Sunday was boring.

"Kind of," Cal offered. "A Slushie of Pollution Death."

"I think I like my world better in that aspect. Less pollution." And more of those wars, but the pollution was the important thing.

"Well, my hometown is, like, the auto capital of the world, and has been for about a hundred years, so we've got it pretty bad in Detroit. My mom always mentioned how the skies were remarkably smogless on the day I was born."

In response, Cal just drew in a deep, deep breath, and then let it out slowly, luxuriously, topped off with a big, satisfied, pleasantly blissful smile. "Ahhhh."

She snorted at him. "You still can't see the stars here."

"Probably not as well as where you're from where there's almost no light pollution," Cal agreed. "But there are some places? In Northern Michigan?" He let out a long whistle. "Beautiful."

"It's like that at home all the time," She replied, a touch wistful. "I miss the sunsets there."

There was a faint smile. "A bit homesick, Fanbutt?"

"Sometimes," She replied. "Things make more sense there."

"Things never really make sense," Cal mused. "What are the odds of getting to visit?"

"...maybe over break." She'd have to write to her brother, of course. But if Jamie managed to get her a way to bring Squishies to Suna, she could probably talk him into it.

There wasn't a deep, evil chuckle punctuating the statement, but there might as well have been.
