The Roof - Monday morning before classes - 11/24

After a week(end) of near-hermitness in his room, subsiding on tea, hot soup, and other such things as he could make in the confines of his room, Liir was in two very different states than he'd been in when he'd gone in:

He was well, of body if not of mind or soul, not that that was odd.

And he was thoroughly sick of his room.

The bedsheets had been stripped off and put in a pile with the laundry for him to do after classes, and the window had been opened to let in fresh light, but it hadn't been quite enough. That said, he wasn't quite sure he was exactly up for company yet, and so he left it to the whims of chance; people came up to the roof almost as often as they went to the common rooms, after all, the view was lovely, and the breeze was nice enough when one had a steaming hot cup of tea and was wrapped up tight in a thick Munchkinlanderwool cloak.

[exceedingly open]

She missed affection, yes.

"I couldn't talk you into it?"

"Then I won't either unless I drink enough to sing only to you," she said, grinning a bit when he kissed her forehead. The warmth was rather nice and Amber sighed in contentment. "When should we plan this?" Reaching up, she patted her mitten against his chest.

"Yah, tonight is no good," she agreed, bititng her lip in thought while her had patted against him. "Hm. I'm leaving Wednesday after work for home, for Thanksgiving, and won't be back until Friday."

Amber tilted her head, staring up at him. "Friday will work. Do you... I mean I know you probably don't, but Thanksgiving, do you know what it is?"

"Well, I wasn't sure how many people would be here, or how many are going home. I don't want you to be alone."

Amber frowned; it was her first reaction to that name. "Uh."

"What's up with this guy?" she asked plainly, searching his face.

"I don't know," she shrugged, not able to really say just what she was thinking. He seemed like Liir was his and Amber didn't think she liked that. But to tell Liir that, it seemed kind of a pushy, nosey thing to do.

...

"Are you guys together?"

"I ne- wanted to know, that's all. If you have a boyfriend, then I don't want to go out on a date with you."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Is that so hard to imagine?" she asked, slightly defensive.

"I've always been interested," she said quietly, possibly mistaking his blush.

"..but if you'd rather not, it's fine," Amber shrugged a single shoulder, looking down, away from his face.

He managed that task quite easily and she met his eyes. "You didn't. I'm the one that called it a date." A beat. "Do you feel pressured, because I wouldn't want you to, not at all."

Amber blinked, once, before she rose to meet him, kissing him back, trying to keep the endearment gentle. With Liir it was a very hard thing to do.
