Third Floor Common Room - Thursday Afternoon
Chuck wasn't feeling particularly social but he was feeling hungry, which was why he was watching TV out in the common room today rather than his room. There was a Girls Next Door marathon on Chuck relaxed on the couch and caught up on what Kendra, Holly and Bridget were up to. He was dressed more casually than usual and that allowed him to take up as much of the couch as he possibly could. To help fix the hungriness, he even managed to make a bowl of popcorn without catching it on fire.
Ignore the other two burnt bags of popcorn in the trash. Shh.
[Chuck may not be feeling social but I am. So, open]

"That's good. He's new. I'm sure he could use new friends."
no subject
"Um. Uh-huh."
no subject
"Amber? Could you just... out with it? Whatever's troubling you?
"If you need proof of devotion, I'll give it to you, do whatever you like to do so, but making me guess is going to take quite a long time, confuse me, and upset you. Please?"

A beat.
"It's totally not a date."
no subject
"Amber, that's the way you are. You flirt. You love people. To love you is to love that."
He tilted his head just a little in confusion.
"I know it's not a date. You said it wasn't."
no subject
"To me it isn't. To him? I'm pretty sure it is." And she was wondering how she could correct that.
no subject
"If you were misunderstood, it's not a sin. It's just something that happens."
no subject
"Maybe you'd like to come with me?" she asked, peeking up at him.

"I do," she said and reached for his hand to hold. "Just dinner. My treat. I want you with me."

"I don't think you have to bring anything. And I don't really know. I think-- he knows we've slept in the same room."
He smiled then.
"And you shouldn't be nervous. He's the kindest man."
no subject
Um.
"Okay, I don't have a dad, so I'm guessing at that. My ma would totally know. In fact she told me if I was to ever take my top off, to make sure I got the money first."
And that totally had nothing to do with anything right now.
"He is kind, I know it. I want to make a good impression as a girlfriend."
no subject
"And you're a great deal, well... I just think he'll like you. I just know it."
He reached out and patted her leg.
"You'll make a fine impression."

Yeah, that the kind of slur that most people in the North found fine enough but it didn't go over well in the West and certainly not with one who could be called such.
"It was by accident," he rushed on to say, "just out of startlement. After all, I hardly look to be from Vinkus stock."

And Amber's mind went some place dirty. After all, Loretta was always declaring so and so had a little winkie that wasn't worth getting her panties off for.
Thus she couldn't help but laugh. "Oh my god, Liir. Why would he ever call your dad a winkie?"
no subject
"It's an insult, a diminutive, a slur. A very... rude term for someone from the Vinkus, at least to someone from the Vinkus."
no subject
She supposed it could be considered rude here too.
"Sorry. It means something else where I'm from."
no subject
"Fair enough. I didn't think you meant it as insulting or anything."
He ruffled his own hair.
"After all, I'm Vinkus stock myself. Well, Vinkus and Munchkinlander."
no subject
...
"Mount Rose people have dirty minds," she clarified.
no subject
"Ozians are all wicked, I think," he said conspiratorially.
"We're just mostly quiet about it."
no subject
"You're never wicked with me."
no subject
"I am. Quietly. I think things I don't think I should think."
