Third Floor Common Room - Thursday Afternoon

Chuck wasn't feeling particularly social but he was feeling hungry, which was why he was watching TV out in the common room today rather than his room. There was a Girls Next Door marathon on Chuck relaxed on the couch and caught up on what Kendra, Holly and Bridget were up to. He was dressed more casually than usual and that allowed him to take up as much of the couch as he possibly could. To help fix the hungriness, he even managed to make a bowl of popcorn without catching it on fire.

Ignore the other two burnt bags of popcorn in the trash. Shh.

"Oh," Eric said. "Did they tell you, or did you catch them or something?"

While he wasn't used to his mother being sloppy about her... liaisons, he'd rather the latter than thinking that his mother wouldn't tell him something like that when they'd tell Chuck.

"Ugh, neither," Chuck said, flinching at the thought of his dad doing anything like that. "I was watching them talk and I just guessed."

"Oh, okay." That was... a little better, yeah, then not being told when Chuck had been.

"Anything planned for the weekend?" Eric said, going for the artful and subtle change-of-subject.

Too bad that change of subject was the last thing Chuck wanted to talk about. Especially to someone from New York.

"Yeah. I'm supposed to take Blair to Victrola sometime," he said. He sounded like it was the most casual thing in the world even though he had been thinking about it a lot the last few days.

Eric smirked a bit. "Can I come along? Or would you two prefer to be alone?"

"Yeah. It'll be fun," he said. Chuck might have had a minor internal panic attack at Eric asking to go along. "I doubt you'd want to go. It'll be all stripping girls and Blair bitching about Nate."

Oh, Chuck. You're usually so much smoother than that.

Whether it were the stripping girls or the bitching about Nate that made the decision for him was rather a toss-up.

Chuck smirked. "She'll get over him eventually."

"She does get this crazy look in her eye when she starts going off about him, doesn't she?" Chuck said. "I want to help her out if only to shut her up."

"But not helping in my usual way," he added quickly. "Nate's my best friend."

Chuck didn't think Nate wouldn't take too kindly to Chuck achieving where he had failed so many times before. Didn't mean Chuck didn't want to. It was just that he shouldn't.
