Tony had the DVD for Harry V and a box full of doughnuts from J, GOB, because he couldn't think of any good reason to not have doughnuts for dinner. He put the movie in and flopped down on the couch with the remote.

"Dinah! Hey! How's it been going?"

"Good! Great, even." Dinah grinned happily, recovering from her momentary embarrassment. "Although I'm kind of sad none of my teachers are obviously insane, like I keep hearing about. At least not so far. I tried out for the play at the playhouse. What've you been up to?"

"Got a job at the diner. And my gym teacher's kinda nutso, but has really cool hair."

"Oh, what day do you work? This is Luke's, right? I stopped by their on Friday, when Cal was working." She tilted her head. "Who teaches gym around here?"

"Thursdays. Stop by, I'll make you a sandwich. And it's a guy named Dex. Big guy."

"Sure, I don't have any classes on Thursday. Easy." She grinned at him, then. "He's teaching my movie appreciation class and he does have great hair, doesn't he? He just kind of turned us loose to gab about our favorite movies all period. Plus, Mr. Dex said we might kick someone in the face later, but I thought he was joking."

Plus, Mr. Dex was a hottie. Wow.

"Man, why couldn't I have gotten his cool class? He had us climbing ropes."

Dinah grinned. "Not a fan of the rope-climbing? Would it be more fun if it were, I dunno. Attached to a rooftop or a bridge?" She was so going to do BASE jumping when she got back to New Gotham.

"Probably? But I'd still suck at it."

"You," Dinah decided, "are one of the cooler guys I've met, for being able to just say that."

Priestly laughed. "What, 'cause I don't pretend to be good at something?" He looked thoughtful. "Guess I'm pretty awesome, then."

"It is awesome," Dinah said, then dialed it back a bit to, "I mean, a lot of guys need to sound way more athletic than they really are. Which is dumb."

"It really is. Especially since then they might have to back it up. I did play football for a bit, though. So I'm not completely unathletic."

"What position?" And then remembering the shirt he'd worn on Tuesday, turned bright pink. She coughed and added, "I'm not really on any teams, or anything, but I like martial arts."

"Defensive tackle. What kind of martial arts?"

Dinah nodded and said, "Kick-boxing. And my sister was teaching me escrima stick fighting, before I left. I've only had about a year or so, but it's fun. They only have a cheerleading squad here, did you hear?"

"No. Who're they cheering for, then?"

"Themselves? I guess." Dinah shook her head, a little mystified. "Like those squads on ESPN and Sports Night?"

"The competition things. That's . . . pretty cool, actually. Cheerleading for cheerleading's sake."

Dinah grinned at him. "You could be on the team. They need boy cheerleaders too, don't they?"

No, seriously, he actually did.

"Huh. Maybe. You get to pick up cute girls in short skirts, right?"

Dinah managed to swallow a giggle, but not a grin. "Yup? And throw them around too. Well, the tiny ones." She blinked, suddenly imagining Priestly in the shorts those guys wore. Wowza.

"I could do the 'hawk in the school colors. Blue and yellow, right?"

"Oooo. That would look kind of awesome," Dinah said, then brightened again. "And I was going to borrow some blue hair dye from you! Do you have any extra?"

Priestly laughed. "I practically had to pack an extra suitcase just for hair color."

Actually, he really had packed an extra suitcase. That he hid from his mother.
