It had taken a few moments to figure out the DVD player, but Merlin did as he was told and just pushed buttons until it worked. It was a surprisingly good method.

He sat back, ready to watch this porno thing that Emmett had said would be interesting.

And in the first five minutes, he couldn't quite understand the draw of this sort of entertainment. It was only like Morgana and Gwen in the fact that they looked vaguely similar. The way they talked and the room they were in certainly didn't look like any castle he'd ever seen. And, really, those dresses were just terribly impractical for a lady or a servant. They must be terribly cold--

Merlin's eyes went very big as the dress issue was solved and they ladies started kissing. The only sound he made was the verbal equivalent of a keysmash.

"Huh? Oh, there's a button that says 'power' on the remote," Sokka answered. "But why would you WANT to? I mean, this is a thing of BEAUTY, right here!"

"Oh, no," Sokka assured him. "Here in Fandom, perversion is perfectly normal. That sort of thing" -- he waved vaguely at the screen -- "goes on all the time, in private. Not in public, obviously." He grinned at Merlin and tried to give him a friendly thump on the back. "You from a different universe, or just the past?"

Merlin went forward a bit at that. "A bit of both, I think?"

"Oh, I mean, everyone here is from an alternate universe of SOME kind," Sokka clarified. "But, like, me, for example, I'm from a world that's completely different. Different continents and everything." He held out a hand for Merlin to shake. "Sokka. You got any questions, just ask. I'm awesome like that."

Taking Sokka's hand, Merlin shook it and smiled. "Merlin. And if I asked how to shut this off...?"

"Like I said, the button labeled 'power'. I'm not sure why, but that's what they write on the buttons that turn things on and off." He grinned. "That thing there is a 'remote control', and it... Controls things. Remotely. Seriously, electricity is a beautiful, beautiful thing."
