Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Afternoon

It had taken a few moments to figure out the DVD player, but Merlin did as he was told and just pushed buttons until it worked. It was a surprisingly good method.

He sat back, ready to watch this porno thing that Emmett had said would be interesting.

And in the first five minutes, he couldn't quite understand the draw of this sort of entertainment. It was only like Morgana and Gwen in the fact that they looked vaguely similar. The way they talked and the room they were in certainly didn't look like any castle he'd ever seen. And, really, those dresses were just terribly impractical for a lady or a servant. They must be terribly cold--

Merlin's eyes went very big as the dress issue was solved and they ladies started kissing. The only sound he made was the verbal equivalent of a keysmash.

Tony had wandered upstairs in hopes that someone might be cooking. He stopped and stared at the screen. "... why are you watching that? Here?"

Merlin opened and closed his mouth, doing an excellent impression of a fish for a moment. "Is this what people call entertainment here?!"

Flailing his hands a bit, Merlin made an odd sort of noise of frustration. "Emmett said it was like a soap opera!"

Chuck's eyes widened a bit when he saw there was porn playing in the common room but he couldn't say he was disappointed to find it was there. And he's seen this one.

"Did you get to the part when they're doing it in the horse stables yet?" he asked. Oh, there's so much hay in that scene.

When Sokka realized exactly WHAT it was that he was hearing faintly, he ran down the stairs. "DUDE! Are we having a porno party???" he asked. "You really need some alcohol to go with it!"

"There's no party!" Merlin said quickly, trying to quiet him before even more people showed up.

Dinah was headed back to her room, and heard televised gasping as she came up the stairs. So she had to check it out.

"Omigod." She smacked a hand over her eyes and then said, "Who can't watch the porno in their own room?!"

"I didn't know!" Merlin said, wishing he could just hide behind the couch now.

"This is what I said," Claire greeted. "Of course, he lives with my new boyfriend."

Francine was, well, let's face it, she was wandering the common rooms looking for snacks that weren't what she found in her own. However when she poked her head into one on the 3rd floor, the sequence of events went roughly:

1. It's Merlin!

2. "Merlin!"

3. WHUT.

4. "...WHUT?"

Sometimes Francine's inner monologue was not all that complicated.

Merlin was now trying to smother himself with a pillow. "It's not mine!"

Claire paused in the common room for cereal and no noise came out of her mouth when she looked at the screen.

"Oh, gross," she finally said, but she was clearly fascinated. "Didn't they give you a room to watch this stuff in?"

She might not have remembered he lived with Cal.

Merlin buried his face in his hands. "Why does no one believe me when I say I would not watch---THIS in public?"

There was a pause before he thought better.

"Or ever?!"

When Éowyn came into the common room, she was pleased to see Merlin there. She'd been hoping for a cup of tea, but the machines in the kitchens still confused her to the point where she was always grateful for help. "Good afternoon," she said politely. "Are you watching something?"

"No!" Merlin was trying to cover it up before the lady could see it. "It's not even mine!"

Adora had what amounted to a long day, and a trip to the common room for a snack seemed like a good idea, even with so many people there and the television making strange noises. "Hello, friends! What sort of thing are we watching?" Maybe she would learn something for TV class.

"Nothing!" Merlin insisted, pushing all the buttons he could to make it stop.

Inara wandered into the common room in search of tea and stopped when she noticed the television. Or, more appropriately, what was being viewed on the television.

She tilted her head to watch a particularly acrobatic maneuver. "She must be double-jointed."

"She must--" Merlin repeated, turning to look and... yes that had been a bad idea. Once again, he was red.

Brooke was only on the third floor in search of something caffeinated and diet, and she had to check out what was on the TV before making her way towards the kitchen.

"She's faking it."

Merlin stared in something like open mouthed horror. "How---?"

"What in the name of all that's holy are you watching?" Aravis asked, utterly and completely enraptured by the television.

She was horrified, really.

And not at all fascinated.

"Emmett gave it to me!" Oh, he had NO problem giving that man up. "I didn't do it on purpose!"

Between one thing or the other, Cal found himself on the third floor; his intention lay somewhere in the vicinity of Claire's room, but the sounds of something you didn't usually hear coming from a common room distracted and diverted him.

"Merlin," he stated, somehow noticing his roommate at the center of all this (maybe it was the ears), "are you watching porn?"

It was asked like one might ask how the weather was.

If the weather was something you intended to potentially hold over someone's head for eternity (or at least graduation).

"Not on purpose!" Merlin insisted, fumbling with the remote. That just put it in slow motion.

Anemone had run out of Sugar Bombs to snack on, hence her trip up to third floor to raid their common room.

"Is this one of the fiction or non-fiction shows?" she asked, tilting her head with interest as she she peered at the screen. Even after over a year of living with television, Anemone wasn't always the best at figuring out the difference. "Romances are usually fiction, right?"

Prince Edward was wandering the hall, searching for Giselle when he heard such strange noises!

He bounded into the common room, puffy sleeves and all.

"Ah-hah! What is that--" That is when he saw the Magic Mirror!

Katchoo had the vague notion that stashing the leftovers from the Chinese food she'd gotten on her way home from work in a common room fridge other than her own might keep it from getting swiped somehow. The third floor being conveniently in the middle, she headed in and --

"Sweet mother of @#$_*(@#$)(@*)@#$! what the hell are you people watching?"

It was kind of impressive how loud that raspy voice could get.

Merlin was staring at how... colorful the language had been. He hadn't even heard half of that before.

Jack wandered into the common room. The common room. With other people. This was so cool. Plus, he had a jar of smooth peanut butter all his own. And a spoon. Jill could bite him.

He blinked at the screen and said, "Oh, hey, I've seen that one."

Merlin turned to see who said that, ears still red. "How is it everyone knows about this sort of thing here?"

Firekeeper and Blind Seer wandered in to the common room, hearing something of a commotion from the hall.

Firekeeper tilted her head so sharply as she tried to make sense of the action on the screen that it was practically sideways.

It didn't make any more sense sideways.

"What," she said slowly, "is going on?"
