Sunday Afternoon: Third Floor Common Room

Dor wasn't sure what the big deal was about the big football game. After all they had football back in Xanth but they were just balls of feet that rolled around the jungle making footpaths for the populace to use.

So he decided to skip the whole gathering and settle down in the common room and see what was on TV.

It was then that he stumbled across the Puppy Bowl and somehow became hypnotized by the images of puppies frolicking around and playing with each other.

[Because... well it's what I watch instead of the Super Bowl. Because it's Puppies. Yes, I am a dork.]

"You might enjoy it less," Jeff said, tactfully. "Spelling is a sacred art."

"That's about right," Jeff replied, thinking back to his enormous stacks of magazines that he couldn't use much anymore anyway. Or maybe he should get Dor new ones. "We'll get you started in no time."

Jeff reached over to pat him on the back again. "The path of spelling," he said, "Is one best walked alone."

Jeff looked to the television for guidance.

"I think it's better that you practice on your own for a bit first," Jeff finally attempted, tactfully. "Gets your muscles right."

"I have a girlfriend," Jeff said, almost automatically. "I don't need any practice. She's very good at it."

"Really good one," Jeff nodded, "Top notch. But she can only help one person, so..."
