Gym; Wednesday After Classes [ 02/18 ] -- Cheer Practise!

It was Chad's turn to set up for cheerleading practise, which he did pretty easily, as he never had much trouble moving the mats or even lugging around the giant container for Gatorade. In fact, the most difficult thing for Chad was picking out the music. There were a lot of options but, today, he was thinking they needed some rock. If he could make life contain just a little less pop music, he was content.

Yeah. She could tell.

Angela raised her eyebrows just a touch. "You're kind of a bad liar sometimes," she informed him.

"Nuh uh." Oooh, look, bad lying again. He looked up at the ceiling. That was better. No more looking at her hair and her eyes and the line of her jaw and--

Goddammit.

"And, not getting any better," she said, frowning a little at the avoidance. "Are you okay?"

No.

"Just fine," he said and managed to get himself under enough control to smile at her. Just a quick smile, he knew he could do it. "Tired, maybe?"

Good excuse.

"I was a little restless last night."

Hey, the truth!

"Obviously need to relax a little," Angela said after a moment, not sure if she really believed that excuse or not. "Spring break is coming at the right time."

"I do need to relax. Think you can help me with that?" It was out before he could stop it and goddammit, he needed to get over this. "Spring Break won't help nearly as much as you."

Sigh.

"Obviously I've been underestimating my skills here if I beat a whole week's holiday," she decided with a grin.

"Well. The holiday doesn't have hands." It was like an instinct to just say the words and hate himself later if things didn't start working.

"True," she allowed with a little laugh as she rolled onto her back to look up at him. She liked living without a neck crick. "Forgot about that one tipping things in my favour."

And now she was on her back.

Hannibal hated the world today.

"You should be wearing a sweatshirt," he said, nodding. "It's cold out there today. Maybe four sweatshirts."

Because that would...cover things.

"We're not out there," she pointed out rationally, leaning back on her elbows. "And the point of all this is to warm us up anyway, isn't it?"

Maybe she was doing this on purpose. Maybe she was being all evil and...stretchy on purpose.

"Well, yes," he admitted. "But...sweatshirts are stylish?"

"Why are you so determined I put more layers on?" she asked with a slightly bemused laugh.

This being Hannibal, it was the other way around more often than not.

"Because I'm concerned for your health and well being?" Why did he make that sound like a question?

"And you sound oh so sure about that," Angela remarked sounding just a little amused.

"I'm fine," she clarified. "All healthy and intending to stay that way."

"Me too, if you were curious!" Ignore those plumbing problems. Yeah. "Have a good week so far?"

"Well, I'm glad to hear it," Angela said, possibly just a little puzzled by his need to assert that so firmly.

"And, going very nicely," she confirmed, nodding with a smile up at him. "Yours?"

"Dandy. Swell." Wrong word to use. "Swimmingly! Just a regular old week where I go to class and see friends and all that jazz. Just a typical week in the land of one H. King."

He needed to stop trying so hard.

He really did.

"Ooookay," she drew out after a moment. "You might want to leave out some adjectives if you actually want me to really believe you."

"You don't believe me?" Smart, smart girl.

"I'm just saying, you seem off," she said. "All on edge."

As if to demonstrate that, she stretched to nudge him with one of her feet.

Oh god no, touching! Hannibal tried not to jump back, tried tried tried but he did twitch some. He was so afraid that if she touched him, he'd try to just jump her in the middle of the gym, problems be damned.

"I think you're seeing things," he tried, swallowing.

Wow, twitchy. Oh, come on she knew that was strange and gave him a weird look.

"Yeah, I'm really, really not," she said.

Hannibal facepalmed with both hands and groaned. "I'm having...some issues."

Issues... Right.

"Okay. Anything I can help with?" she asked, still completely oblivious.
