Dorm Pool, Tuesday Evening - PARTY

The day had flown by, and before she knew it, Hinata and Amber, who’d cut out of rehearsal early (small sacrifices), were down in the pool area and setting up the decorations for Turtle’s (hopefully) surprise birthday party. Streamers and balloons in gold, green, and purple matched the tablecloths, disposable plates and utensils. Colour co-ordination was a go.

It took them awhile to get things all set up, but eventually it was accomplished, and a sign at the door to the pool proclaimed ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TURTLE!!!’ in, of course, green and gold glitter.

Jeff was here, and wearing Turtle's favorite (read: least offensively hawaiian-print) swim trunks in his collection.

It was possible he'd only remembered about her birthday thanks to the email, but he was more than happy for the opportunity not to have to freeze up in fear as that sort of knowledge dawned on him.

She grinned a bit over at him. "I'm g-glad you could make it!"

"Hi!" Jeff called.

And then sort of stopped calling. It was Hinata. She sort of made him cower.

That was a reaction she wasn't used to, and would be lying if she said it didn't partly bemuse her.

But it concerned her a bit more. "T-There's food over there," she said helpfully. "Please, enjoy yourself."

"I love food," Jeff assured her, nodding his head. "Loads of food. Sometimes I have food for breakfast."

"That's... lovely," she said, years of banquet training coming in handy and letting her keep a straight face. "Did you h-have breakfast today?"

"Yes," Jeff said.

"No," he continued.

"I think I've forgotten," he finished, "But I can't be sure."

...sigh.

"Well h-hopefully you did," she said, smiling slightly. "It is an important meal, after all."

"It is," Jeff agreed, bobbing his head. "Actually, I think I forgot about it because I was so busy thinking about how to have it, and then noon crept up on me and I got distracted by thinking about dinner."

Amber was mingling here and there, grinning, and being her usual bubbly self. Yaaaaaay, party!

Hinata tried to work through that.

"...so you h-haven't eaten anything at all today?"

Ned had basic blue trunks on with a towel over his shoulders and a bag at his side. Any nerves he might have been feeling over a huge party went away because it was for Turtle.

"I don't know," Jeff said, seriously, more than well aware he'd already gotten caught up in his own point and had absolutely no idea where it was running, "I might have accidentally had some, but there's no way to be sure."

Trying to use balloons for floats didn't really work all that well. But Amber was having fun trying.

She grinned at Amber. "N-Not bad for a party, I don't think."

Amber waved at Ned. "Hi!"

Hinata offered him a smile. "It's n-nice to see you here!" she said cheerfully. "Turtle-san s-should have a good party."

"Everything looks so nice!" she beamed proudly. "I think we did a great job, Hinata."

She blinked at him.

"Well," Hinata said carefully, "h-how hungry do you feel right now?"
