The Roof - Friday Evening

Chuck's little, ah, problem had cleared up yesterday but he didn't let himself out of his self-imposed imprisonment until Friday afternoon. He wouldn't put it past Peter to lull him into a false sense of security and then make it all come back while he was in public or something. He went to the roof after the cheerleading auction with a couple joints to get stoned out of his mind. He planned on staying high for most of the weekend, actually. Probably not the smartest thing to do since at some point he wanted to go get that camera from Dean but, whatever. This was fun.

"If it means I can smoke in peace, I just might," Jess said, getting more agitated. "Are you always like this, or did I have the bad luck to come across you on a PMS day?"

"Oh, I'm a girl, very creative," Chuck said with a roll of his eyes. "Any other witty insults you'd like to astound me with?"

"Hey, I'm not the one who started this. You came over and bitched at me first," Jess pointed out.

"I was here first," Chuck argued. And, you know, he thought Jess was someone else.

"It's a big roof," Jess argued right back. "I was going to leave you alone. Why'd you think I was stalking you? Are you that special?" Somehow, he managed to make special sound like a bad thing.

"Yeah, I am," Chuck said immediately. He paused. "And until about two minutes ago I thought you were Peter."

The annoyed face Jess made was an automatic reaction that he couldn't help by this point in his time in Fandom. "Wait, and that's a bad thing? Usually people get clingy when they think that."

"That's because most people are idiots," Chuck replied. "Peter's an asshole."

To say that Jess wasn't Peter's biggest fan would be an understatement, but he wasn't particularly fond of Chuck at the moment either, and he wasn't sure if hatred of Peter was enough to win him over. "Tell me he did something bad," he said. "I knew that good-hearted thing couldn't last forever."

"I'd...rather not say what he did. But it was a douche move," Chuck said, finding it weird to talk about Peter being an asshole to someone that looked exactly like him. "And then after he added insult to injury but doing that 'you're a good person on the inside' bullshit. I think that was actually worse."

"That's the kind of bullshit you get used to with Peter," Jess said. "But I can't imagine him being a douche. He's too nice for that."

"If you want to see him being a douche try kissing his boyfriend," Chuck suggested. "That seems to do the trick."

That got a more disgusted look out of Jess than anything else. "I'd rather drink cleaner than kiss that asshole."

That earned Jess a glare. "What is your problem with Sam? Aside from his poor taste in men, I mean."

"He's a jerk," Jess said. "Self-righteous, obnoxious, and a little too violent. Plus, he doesn't think there's anything wrong with Peter, and that should earn him a negative point too."

Chuck frowned took a step closer towards Jess. "If he got violent I'm sure it was a well-deserved response to you being a dick."

"And I'm sure that whatever Peter did to you was something you deserved too," Jess shot back.

Okay, that was true. "Doesn't change the fact that Peter is an ass. Sam, however, isn't obnoxious or a jerk. The self-righteousness sort of prevents that."

Chuck may have been looking around the roof to make sure nobody could hear him defending Sam.

"He threw me in the lake!" Jess said, leaving out the part about how he'd attacked Sam first. "He acts like he's better than everyone because he's all tall and shit."

Chuck clenched his hands into fists and, before he could really think about doing the smart thing, he reached back to punch Jess in the face.

It was because he said stuff about Sam, really. The fact that he looked like Peter was just a perk.

In spite of how much they were arguing, Jess wasn't really expecting to get hit. "What, are you in love with him? That's kind of sad," he said, and as soon as he recovered, he threw a punch at Chuck in return.

Chuck most certainly did not expect to get hit back. Luckily for him, he was used to getting punched by now and recovered rather quickly. He knew that was going to leave a nice bruise. "No, I'm not. But you're wrong about him."

If people had seen the way Chuck acted about Nate they probably wouldn't be so quick to accuse him being in love and more inclined to believe that he was just crazy protective over people he liked.

Chuck managed a glare over at Jess even though doing so made his face hurt. "Sam Winchester may be a naive, girly, goody two shoes with a questionable fashion sense but he does not think he's better than everybody else. Even though he probably should."

Deep down, Jess knew that Sam probably wasn't a horrible person, but his annoyance at Sam's stupid face combined with the temptation to hit Chuck again meant he wasn't feeling very rational.

"Peter has way too much of a vested interest in taking care of people to mess with them for no reason," he said. "Whatever he did to you, it was probably for your own good." The reality of actually defending Peter to someone might sink in later for him, but Jess wasn't bothered by it now.

Oh god, they both talked like Oprah. Chuck was glad he punched Jess now.

"Excuse me if I don't write him a thank you note," Chuck replied, shaking out his hand. That had fucking hurt.

"I'll leave the construction of a Sam shrine to you," Jess shot back, putting his fingertips up to the side of his face again. "You know what? If you want the whole roof, you can have it. If I listen to any more from you, I'm gonna throw up."
