The Deck, early evening Thursday

Dinah had hamburgers and hot dogs, some veggie platters and chips and dip, soft drinks and cake. Oh, and ice cream in the fridge inside for later.

Happy birthday, Will Shakespeare! Oh, and her too.

[very limited OCD ~~about to go~~ up!, for early justice and time zones; set before Dress Rehearsal/Previews.

"Enjoy it?" Leto laughed. "Why? That would leave most of us dead, and I fail to see how it would be enjoyable."

Most, because he had some ability to counteract weaker poisons.

"In that respect, it would be tragic," Arthur agreed, diplomatically. He was going to leave the other details to Leto to figure out, as he reached to get himself... something that looked like a sausage.

"I take it you are not going to eat her boots again," Leto commented cheerfully.

Oh, of course Leto had heard about that. It wasn't as if Dinah had any clue what the word discretion meant. "I wasn't planning on it," he said, idly, and pulled back with the sausage.

"That's a relief," Leto replied. "If it had been planned I would have been concerned."

"Leto Atreides the Second," Arthur said, with all the pomp his years-long training had brought him, "Defender of Dinah Lance's sacred boots. You've got quite a task ahead of you."

"I actually meant concern for your mental abilities, but if you put it like that," Leto said. "Now that they are gone I suppose they will be more legendary than they were before." He picked a few chips from his plate and chewed on them. "Has anything else of interest happened recently?"

"Don't worry, my mental abilities still function admirably," Arthur said. With absolutely zero arrogance. Really. "Nothing beyond what you've already heard of," he continued, picked up a chip from the gargantuan spread, and tossed it in his mouth.

You know, unless you chose to see awkward conversations with your manservant's... girlfriend... as being of interest.

Luckily for Arthur, no one had informed Leto of that.

"I'm relieved to hear that," he replied cheerfully. "Also, I think we might need to consider an approach for organisation for the aspiring fighters of Fandom."

"We've let them mess about for two weeks," he agreed, "You've seen them. What are your thoughts?"

Arthur would pick and choose as to which he considered apt, yes, but he was willing to give it a listen.

"They are unified by a cause, which does compensate to some extent for lack of experience," Leto replied. "But what about authority? And army without control is a weapon that can turn on the one who wields it. I suspect many of them will not take orders easily, even if there is a sense of loyalty."

"Their authority is us," Arthur said, matter-of-factly. He didn't know any different, and so far, most of them had responded to him in kind; he'd put his faith in that. "Give them a chance to do their say as to the way the situation is handled, make them a part of it-- and ensure that they know we'll stand beside them."

Leto may have gotten a slight look at that, because... tree. "If they have faith in our example, they'll follow."

It wasn't his fault he had been a tree!

"Yes, but do we know them well enough to judge which position to put them in should their use be put to the test? Or do they know themselves well enough to make useful suggestions to that?"

"Are you questioning my judgement of character now, Leto?" Arthur asked, raising one of his eyebrows.

"No," Leto said, sighing impatiently. "I am merely raising some issues which I think needs discussing."

Arthur shot him a look that implied he really needed to get hip with recognising when he was being made fun of. "I think Reno and you need to discuss with me what you've observed so far. Together," he noted, which was as close to admitting he didn't know exactly how to deal with all of these... powered... people as he was ever going to get. "We'll be able to set up a strategy."

In which Arthur, of course, would have final say.

Or maybe Leto was not very patient with Arthur's sense of humour today. "That is a good plan," he agreed.

Of course, Leto did not agree with Arthur having the final say.
