The Deck, early evening Thursday

Dinah had hamburgers and hot dogs, some veggie platters and chips and dip, soft drinks and cake. Oh, and ice cream in the fridge inside for later.

Happy birthday, Will Shakespeare! Oh, and her too.

[very limited OCD about to go up!, for early justice and time zones; set before Dress Rehearsal/Previews.

Anyone welcome, even if you don't know her! I'm sticking to Dinah's thread to keep it simple.]

"Little bit," Ben said. "Turns out he'd been holding himself back."

"Ouch." Tahiri still hadn't forgotten that time he'd burned a precise line across the back of Ben's shirt, and nothing else, and her eyes widened. Like they do in canon. A lot. Dammit. "You're okay, though? Um, relatively."

"I might need help getting out of bed tomorrow," Ben said with a rueful smile and no sense of innuendo.

"If you ask really nicely I might be willing to come by and help you out with that," Tahiri teased, completely clueless about how that statement could be interpreted.

Ben grinned. "It'd have to be early. I have class."

"I'm used to getting up early anyway," Tahiri reminded him. "And I could bring breakfast by, and oh! I was going to ask you if you could help me with something."

"What do you need help with?" Ben asked.

"A little lawn mower attachment sort of thing, for a mouse droid," Tahiri said, blushing a little at how weird this probably sounded. "And some special lamps."

"Am I allowed to ask why?" Ben replied.

"It's for my room," Tahiri explained. Sort of explained, anyway. "I sort of got this idea . . ."

"Ino's going to help me install grass instead of carpeting," she said quickly.

Ben blinked and then grinned. "I'm surprised who hadn't thought of that sooner," he teased.

I did! By about fourteen years! "So am I," Tahiri admitted. "Actually I thought of it weeks ago, but I only just got around to figuring out the whole thing. So you'll help, right?"

"Of course I will," Ben said, nodding. "It's good to have projects."

"Yeah, I sort of got the idea from you and your projects," Tahiri said. "You're rubbing off on me."

Which, again, was completely not dirty.

"I'm glad to hear it," Ben said, blushing and yet still completely missing the dirty.

She liked getting him to blush. The smiling was nice, too. "I feel like I should be thanking you for this, somehow."

"I don't know, actually," Tahiri admitted. "I just feel like I should. You've done a lot for me, and I'd hate for you to think I didn't appreciate it."

Ben bit his lip, then reach his hand out towards her face. "I know you do," he said softly.

"This is where I would usually just hug you," Tahiri said quietly, leaning into his hand just the tiniest bit.
