The Deck, early evening Thursday

Dinah had hamburgers and hot dogs, some veggie platters and chips and dip, soft drinks and cake. Oh, and ice cream in the fridge inside for later.

Happy birthday, Will Shakespeare! Oh, and her too.

[very limited OCD ~~about to go~~ up!, for early justice and time zones; set before Dress Rehearsal/Previews.

Anyone welcome, even if you don't know her! I'm sticking to Dinah's thread to keep it simple.]

"Dude, seriously?" Hurley said. "Awesome."

"I know," she laughed. "I'm getting old!" Teasing!

"How old?" Hurley said. "Cause I'm gonna be nineteen before I graduate."

"Eighteen," she answered. "So, yah, you'll be an oldie too when you graduate."

"Dude, I'm already older than you," Hurley chuckled. "No saying you're old."

"Oh. You are totally right!" she laughed. "Okay, okay, no calling you old or me old or there is just no old here!"

"We're just two young hot people, celebrating a birthday," Hurley said.

Her brows shot upwards and she giggled. "Oooh, hot. I like that. Two young hot people, celebrating and enjoying life! Wooo!"

Hurley was mostly joking. On his part, at least. He let out a "Woooo!" with Amber, though.

Joking or not, it was fun to say. She bounced a little dance and even sidled up close to him to do a hip bump before she cracked up laughing.

Hurley grinned. "Liir is one lucky dude," he said.

"Aw, Hurley," she said with a little headtilt. "It makes me feel good you think so. I hope he feels the same way."

"If he doesn't, he's dumb," Hurley decided.

She grinned at him and thought him entirely adorable. "He's not dumb. Far from it. Way smarter than me. I'm just a tap dancer who cleans up dead people real nice. He... can fly on a broom."

"Dude, I think you got a leg up on me," Hurley said.

"Oh, come on. What did you do at home before coming here?"

"I worked at a chicken place," Hurley said. "And mostly the register."

"Ah." Hm. Okay. Well. "Was it good chicken?"

"Yeah," Hurley said. "I totally, uhhh, snagged a piece every so often."

"Then awesome. That's so much better than working with the dead. Or lutefisk. I worked in the cafeteria at my old school. Every Wednesday we had lutefisk and I was oh so lucky to get to clean the trays off."

"...ew," Hurley said.

"I know, right? I was lucky if I didn't get it flicked in my hair. Stupid Becky Leeman, she enjoyed it when she could manage it."

"Man, I got teased all the time back home," Hurley said.

"Sucks, doesn't it? I was doing fine pretty much till I entered the pageant. Stupid girls with stupid mom's," she said with a shake of her head.

"But what matters is that we're both two awesome people now, right?"

"Exactly," Hurley said. "You're really smart, Amber."
