The Deck, early evening Thursday

Dinah had hamburgers and hot dogs, some veggie platters and chips and dip, soft drinks and cake. Oh, and ice cream in the fridge inside for later.

Happy birthday, Will Shakespeare! Oh, and her too.

[very limited OCD ~~about to go~~ up!, for early justice and time zones; set before Dress Rehearsal/Previews.

Anyone welcome, even if you don't know her! I'm sticking to Dinah's thread to keep it simple.]

"We'd only keep them penned up at night," Hurley said. "Duuuuuh."

"Okay, but you're making the droid clean up after them," Tahiri said, crossing her arms over her chest and giving him a mock-challenging look.

"I'm sure Ben can program that," Hurley said.

"It is sort of one of the things they're meant to do," Tahiri replied. And twitched, just a tiny bit.

"Really?" Hurley said.

"Yeah," Tahiri said, mildly uncomfortable for a moment. "They can do all kinds of things. Clean, run messages, stuff like that."

"Man," Hurley said. "And here I was, mainly using it as a moving coaster."

"I don't think it minded," Tahiri said with another twitch. She gritted her teeth and took a deep breath, drawing on a Jedi calming technique. "But would you mind, if we used it for that?"

"You can use Four-Dee however you want," Hurley said.

Tahiri totally cheated by levitating her plate while she went to hug him. "You're astral, Hurley."

Hurley stared at the plate, a little mesmerized. "Dude, that is so handy."

Then he returned the hug.

"Is not." Tahiri's retort might have been a little muffled due to hugging. "I'm not touching it with my hands at all."

"Dork," Hurley said. He gave her a little squeeze and pulled back.

Tahiri blinked innocently at him. "And your point is?"

"I have to have a point?" Hurley said.

"No," Tahiri answered, "but I like to check on these things."

Or she was just being a brat again.

Hurley then made a grab for Tahiri's plate, just to be a further dork.

So it went floating up out of his reach. And nothing fell off it. Ha!

Hurley pointed off in the distance.

"Look, a... three headed monkey!"

"Uh huh," Tahiri said. She'd probably actually seen one at some point.

She looked anyway, but the plate only wobbled a tiny bit.

Hurley made a grab for the plate again, while she was distracted.

"I know you're doing that," Tahiri said as the plate floated up another few inches.

One of the Jedi skills she was getting really good at was using the Force to be a pain in the butt.

Hurley laughed. "That's pretty good," he said.

"Practical application of my lessons," Tahiri said solemnly, making sure to levitate the plate out of his reach before bringing it back to herself and taking a bite out of a potato chip.
