LBJ Campfire, Monday Evening
Chuck didn't know who started the campfire outside his cabin but he was glad that someone did. He was capable of working a lighter but that whole Boy Scout-y wood and newspaper in the optimal fire starting position thing was lost on him. So when people did the hard stuff for him he was appreciative. Silently appreciative. He wasn't about to be thanking people out loud.
Now he was sitting back against a log with a joint in his hand and was debating going back inside the cabin to grab marshmallows. Maybe after the munchies set in.

"I... don't think so, no. Both my parents seem to have a lot of money, even if I never heard about it before now.
"I'm a lot more worried about making it that far."

She was only fifteen, after all. However mature she seemed sometimes, however still she could be in some moments.
"And it would probably be best if no one got involved. The last time, my workplace got blown up and most of my town was destroyed."

"Demons?" she asked quietly.

There was a long pause before she finally spoke again.
"He doesn't like them, does he?"

"I killed one."

"It was his. And now it's mine. A reminder."
Of what, she wasn't quite prepared to share.
"He had this around his neck, some sort of... pride thing. He let me get close."
A brief huff of a laugh.
"His mistake."

He was also my cousin.
"He wanted Eliot. They trapped me somewhere else, but Robert managed to help me find a way out and we got there in time.
"We hit him with the car."

"I'm fine with it. It saved my brother and it helped my father, and he was the one who destroyed most of my town."
She looked down at the sapphire.
"And Beal had it coming anyway."
It was HIS chocolates that had made Fiona cut out her own capacity to hunger, that had almost killed her.
It just didn't change the fact that they were family.

"I... maybe?"
She didn't look comfortable with this.
"I think they know to be more careful now," she noted as she lifted up the sapphire.
This is probably not the time to question when the Parent's Weekend I read about actually is.

"I don't know what my family told them. I'm pretty sure my aunt Lucia is the one who made all of the arrangements."
She wasn't sure she wanted to, of course, but there was the issue of safety.
"I guess I should go see her and check."

The League wasn't exactly the 'sharing' type.
"If you want. You don't have to. I know you have other things to do."
She didn't like this. She didn't like lying to Dinah, but she wasn't sure she could tell the truth here and keep her as a friend. The conflict was written clearly on her face.
