LBJ Campfire, Monday Evening

Chuck didn't know who started the campfire outside his cabin but he was glad that someone did. He was capable of working a lighter but that whole Boy Scout-y wood and newspaper in the optimal fire starting position thing was lost on him. So when people did the hard stuff for him he was appreciative. Silently appreciative. He wasn't about to be thanking people out loud.

Now he was sitting back against a log with a joint in his hand and was debating going back inside the cabin to grab marshmallows. Maybe after the munchies set in.

"They promised I could go back if this summer turned out well," Rose said, a hint of either desperation or longing in her voice.

Jack picked up on the hint, though he couldn't tell where it was coming from. "You sound like you'd like to go back to the place you ran away from."

She gave him a quick smile. "I ran away with my best friend," she explained quickly. "When they caught us, they sent me away, but I can't protect her from here. Rather be back there where I can."

"I'm sorry: I see why you'd be worried. I know a bit of how that feels," Jack said, and he did. Not being near Sebastien was killing him. Intellectually, he knew Sebastien had managed perfectly well for a millennium before Jack was even born, but that didn't mean Jack liked the notion.

"Can you stay in touch with her?"
