Benjamin Harrison Campfire - Late Wednesday Evening

Five days since Rose had seen Lissa, and that was longer than she remembered since they'd met sitting next to each other in kindergarten. When she was by herself, she couldn't stop mentally poking at that oddly blank spot in her head where Lissa was supposed to be. Every once and a while, Rose could almost feel a whisper of emotion from the spot, but it was never constant. It was never the way their bond had always been.

She'd tried to tire herself out today, but she couldn't fall asleep so Rose got up and headed out to the unlit campfire. She scavenged some bread and peanut butter and sat at the campfire to occupy herself by ripping up the slices and throwing pieces into the firepit.

"Why? Do you only have children with yourself?"

She kinda thought she was funny.

Worf scowled. "No. A female is required," he replied not getting the joke. "Klingons are not asexual like some other species."

"Then why is having the child impossible," Rose asked. She was totally not thinking about the idea of a kid randomly showing up. That was way too weird.

"The person involved as the other parent was someone... I dislike," Worf grumbled and he paused for a moment before adding: "And male."

That stopped her. "Um, that's not possible."

"That was what I kept saying!" Worf exclaimed, obviously still burned by the prospect, "However there were other children from that weekend that were just as unlikely."

He let out a sigh of exasperation. "It was then I realized that this island has a sick sense of humor."

Rose eyed him. "Um. It's an island. I don't think it can have a sense of humour."

"At one point I believed that as well," Worf replied seriously. "However after being on the island for more than a year I can attest that this place is... different."

She nodded, and she was found it hard to believe that this Worf of all people would be fooling her. "Any tips? Other than run away from kids?"

"Be prepared for the ridiculous," Worf grumbled. "It appears to happen almost every day here."

"Only ridiculous I've seen so far are some of the people," Rose said lightly. "Guess I'll have to watch out for everything else."

"It will come soon enough," Worf warned her. "It won't take long."

"Let it come," Rose challenged, tossing the last bit of bread in her hand into the fire. "Least it'll keep it from ever getting boring!"

"You may regret saying that," Worf warned her.

"If I don't regret it, will you keep making me fires?" she asked teasingly.

"That makes no sense," Worf replied looking puzzled. "How does regret relate to fire building abilities?"

"It's a bet," Rose said. "They don't have to relate."

"Then you will be honorable regarding my warnings?" Worf asked seriously.

"Of course!" Rose said, frowning at him. Not that it was a bad question at all, but still.

"Then it is agreed," Worf said solemnly.

Rose offered him her hand, grinning way too much.

"You seem to enjoy this," Worf replied solemnly shaking her hand."Why is that?"

"It's funny?" she said, thinking that obvious.

Worf grunted in return. "Ah. I see. If you say so."

You'd think spending his life around humans he'd pick up on a sense of humor. But... No.

"And if I didn't?" Rose asked.
